    His wife Lindsey says the flooding has taken away some of the vital equipment that he needs to get around.

    "Because of the weight of the (electric) wheelchair, we weren't able to move it, so that and his manual chair, they've been flooded and they've had to go to be serviced to see if they're salvageable."

    The A6 Eamont Bridge is closed in both directions between the Skirsgill Lane junction and the Lowther Glen Junction because of bridge inspection work.

  4. Electricity switch-on could take four dayspublished at 07:16

    It'll take at least three to four days to reconnect the last 1,000 homes in the county still without power, according to Electricity North West. 

    Parts of Carlisle and a number of other areas are still without power after the floods of last weekend. 

    Engineers are now going door-to-door to carry out safety checks after completing repairs to most of the affected Cumbrian substations.

  5. Village 'decimated' by further floodspublished at 07:08

    Flood defences in the village of Glenridding by Ullswater were breached with water reaching up to 3ft in places. 

    Judith Henderson, who lives further up the hill, said she tried to do all she could to help.

    "People lower down in the village -- they've just been decimated. It's awful.. And they were starting to recover from it, you know, after last weekend and then the rain came again.. There were some shops and cafes and I'd say it's 3, 4ft running past premises."

    The rain should clear quickly to the south leaving a day of sunny spells and blustery showers.

    In the south of the county it may even stay dry.

    The showers could turn wintry over the hills.

    Four Environment Agency flood warnings - the second-highest level - remain in place this morning.

    Three are for the Greta in Keswick, and the fourth for the River Eden in Carlisle.

  8. Travel: Surface water on many roadspublished at 06:47

    There are problems with surface water on many of Cumbria's roads this morning.  Care is needed especially off main roads.

    Some main roads remain closed, in particular the A591 between Keswick and Grasmere.

  9. Glenridding bridge closed until assessmentpublished at 06:41

    Cumbria Police, external says Glenridding bridge will remain closed until the first sign of daylight.

    Engineers will assess the bridge later and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

  10. Property left outside washed awaypublished at 06:36

    In Glenridding's main street, property left outside was washed away by the floodwater.

    Police appealed for people not to try to go to the village to help.

    "We want to reiterate the message that although the flood water is starting to recede, it is still extremely dangerous and would ask any members of the public not to walk or travel through any floodwater."

  11. Glenridding hit again by floodingpublished at 06:32

    The village of Glenridding was swamped again last night.

    The Glenridding Hotel sent out a desperate appeal on social media for sandbags as heavy rain brought water levels back up.

    Police, fire crews and mountain rescue volunteers spent the night in the village.

    Diggers were deployed to try to stem the swollen waters.
