    Electricity North West says power has now been restored to all but 300 customers in Lancaster.

    About 55,000 consumers have been blacked out since late on Saturday after a sub-station was flooded.

  3. Cancellation of hospital appointmentspublished at 10:14

    Hospitals across the county have cancelled some services and appointments after a major incident was declared.NHS England said there were problems at all of the hospitals and the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and the RLI in Lancaster are running on generators.

    Dr Craig Melrose, Interim Medical Director for NHS England North, said: "The situation is extremely difficult, these are unprecedented circumstances for Cumbria, the flooding is so wide spread."

  15. Eden Bridge closed after damagepublished at 09:07

    Eden Bridge on the old A66 close, external to Temple Sowerby is closed due to structural damage, Cumbria Police said.

    A spokesman said: "Our advice is to not walk or drive across any bridges that are under water as they may be unsafe and could pose a danger to life.

    "As the water subsides the bridges will be checked by highway engineers and declared safe before they can be used."

  16. Evacuation alert for Warwick Road areapublished at 09:02

    Cumbria Police is issuing an alert to residents of the Warwick Road area who are in need of evacuation from their properties.

    In the next 15 minutes boats from the RNLI will be going up and down Warwick Road using loudspeakers to try to communicate with any residents that need evacuation.

    Any residents on Warwick Road are asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 if they need to be evacuated and that message will be sent to the RNLI boats.

  17. Travel: Key bridge in Kendal remains closedpublished at 08:58

    Stramongate bridge in Kendal will stay closed to all traffic apart from cyclists and pedestrians until at least this afternoon. It'll be re-examined by engineers later.

    Miller Bridge and Nether Bridge remain shut pending inspections.  

    The main Kendal one-way system cross Nether Bridge, and Stramongate is also an important link.
