    There are three reception centres open across Cumbria to support residents who have been affected by flooding.

    In Carlisle, Greystone Community Centre on Close Street and Richard Rose Morton Academy on Wigton Road are open and in Kendal, the Town Hall on Highgate is open.

    Cumbria Police says anyone who decides to self-evacuate are asked to tell their family and friends where they are going.

    The oldest building in Kendal has been badly damaged by flooding.

    Kendal Dairy, which is currently used as a training restaurant, is closed today, Kendall College confirms.

    Several bridges were closed in Kendal over the weekend.

    Cumbria Fire Service says, external Victoria Bridge is now open.

    Three of the five bridges over the River Kent in Kendal remain closed - Netherr, Miller and Stramongate.

    Eden Medical Group on Port Road in Carlisle is closed today because it has no power.

    He said staff from the hotel had to be evacuated from house 19 which they were using as accommodation.

    Following an emergency government meeting on Sunday, Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss said Cumbria rain gauge figures showed a "record amount" had fallen in the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday evenings.

    It measured 341mm in Honister, which is more than a month's worth of rainfall in just one day and more than the UK has experienced in such a short amount of time.

    BBC Travel News reports the A591 is closed between the B5322 BLack Lane junction in Legburthwaite and the Pye Lane junction in Grasmere because of a landslip and flooding.

    The county is still facing problems after Storm Desmond hit Cumbria over the weekend - causing flooding to more than 2,000 homes and businesses.

    Cumbria Police says, external the A590 is open from the M6 to Barrow with some standing water at Newby Bridge and Lindal-in-Furness.

    The West Coast Main Line north of Carlisle will remain closed for several days after 8ft of water flooded the railway.

    Network Rail said the depth of the water has reached its peak and is not expected to clear until Tuesday.

    There are still more than 2,500 properties in Cumbria without power.

    Electricity Northwest, external says its engineers are being hampered by flood water.

  15. Bridge closures over safety fearspublished at 07:21

    Four bridges in the county remain closed this morning - Victoria Bridge, Miller Bridge, Nether Bridge and Stramongate Bridge.

    Cumbria County Council says it aims to inspect Victoria Bridge this morning, and if it passes inspection, it will reopen at 08:00. 

    The council says safety is the "top priority" and all of the structures have to be sound before they are reopened.

    The A66 between the A591 at Keswick and the A5086 at Cockermouth has fully reopened in both directions, Highways England says.The road was closed over the weekend due to extensive flooding from a nearby lake.

    Cumbria is assessing the damage after the unprecedented flooding at the weekend.

    The Environment Secretary, Liz Truss, says more than 2,000 homes and businesses in Cumbria have been flooded and there is still a threat that the number could rise.

    Supt Mark Pannone told BBC Radio Cumbria that in Carlisle alone there are 2,500 properties that have been flooded.
