  1. Good nightpublished at 22:43

That's the end of our Local Live coverage today. We'll be back at 08:00 tomorrow to bring you up-to-the-minute updates from across Cumbria.

BBC Radio Cumbria will continue to broadcast flooding updates through the night.

Here's a recap of some of the big news from today:

    - The River Eden burst its banks in Appleby for the second time this month, a day after a visit from Prince Charles

    - A 70-year-old woman was rescued from a house in Appleby

    - Firefighters were called out to eight flooding incidents across the county

    - Water levels in the River Eden are falling now but another storm is forecast for Christmas Day

  2. Floods quite unbelievable, says vicarpublished at 22:34

    Reverend Sarah Lunn

The Reverend Sarah Lunn helped the people of Appleby recover after the last floods, and now has to do it all again.

"I'm devastated for them," she tells the BBC. "The irony of Prince Charles thanking all the folk who gave of their time so generously yesterday afternoon. And then being back in this, is quite unbelievable."

BBC correspondent Ed Thomas in Appleby says it's still raining there but waters are receding. It's an anxious time because the ground is saturated after record rainfall and people are watching and waiting and hoping the town won't flood again, he says.

  3. River Eden falls but another storm expectedpublished at 21:59

More from the Environment Agency, which says heavy rain across Cumbria has passed and conditions are drier. At Appleby, River Eden water levels have peaked but are slowly rising from Langwathby Bridge to Carlisle, with the peak in Carlisle expected at midnight. Overnight and tomorrow, the River Eden is expected to fall but another storm is forecast for later on Christmas Day into Boxing Day.

Three weeks ago, Roy and Charlotte's Appleby home was under six foot of water. Today it's back under water but there's nothing in it after last time. Roy's garage, close to his home, has also been hit - again. But this time he was better prepared and had a "bit of warning", he tells the BBC.

  8. Water levels 'subsiding'published at 20:19

Inspector Neil Thomson, of Cumbria Police, who is in Appleby helping the "devastated" residents of the 30-or-so flooded homes, gives some reassurance. The rain has stopped and water levels are starting to subside, he tells the BBC. This is the second time in two weeks he's been dealing with floods - last time he was helping people in Carlisle.

  9. Seven months of rain in seven weekspublished at 19:57

    BBC Weather

Almost 65% of the average annual rainfall has fallen on Shap in the last seven weeks.

A total of 1,154mm has fallen in the past seven weeks, which is the equivalent of more than seven months' worth.

  10. 'I didn't expect flood defences to be breached'published at 19:48

    BBC Look North
    North East and Cumbria

Appleby resident Charlotte tells us she had not been expecting the town's flood defences to be breached.

Her home has now been flooded for the second time after heavy rain caused the River Eden to rise.

    She said:

It was pretty torrential in the morning, and then the rain died off and the river rose really slowly, compared to last time when the river was very vicious. It seems to have come up gradually all day but not stopped.

    Quote Message

Normally when it floods it doesn't really affect the homes as much because of the flood defences, but you know once again it has gone right over the top of them, which we did not expect."

  11. Playing at neutral venue 'not an advantage' for Carlislepublished at 19:39

More on the story we brought you earlier that Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has criticised the Football League for allowing Carlisle United to move their home games because of flooding.

Following flooding at Brunton Park, Carlisle have three "home" fixtures at neutral grounds and beat Notts County at Preston's Deepdale on Saturday, but Coleman said it was "an unfair advantage to play at another ground".

In response, a Football League spokesman said: "These are very clearly exceptional circumstances with there being a huge difference between a pitch being waterlogged, as was the case at Accrington Stanley, and an entire stadium and surrounding area being flooded, as we've seen recently at Carlisle United.

"Protecting the integrity of our competitions is always an absolute priority for The Football League and we wouldn't agree that a club gains an advantage in the competition by playing its home matches at a neutral ground. If anything the reverse is true."

  12. Five people rescued and up to 40 homes flooded in Applebypublished at 19:19

Cumbria Police says five people have been rescued by firefighters and between 30 and 40 homes were affected by the latest flooding in Appleby.

Insp Neil Thompson said: "Thankfully it's stopped raining and the flood water is now slowly starting to subside, which is good news.

"I worked in Carlisle two weeks ago and it is devastating to see that properties in Cumbria are yet again affected and people displaced with severe flooding.

"It's very sad at this time of the year."

  13. Flood peak moves down River Edenpublished at 19:09

Most of Cumbria's rivers are now stable or falling after flooding earlier today, apart from the River Eden.
