    Kendal Nutricare, external is sending its products to Kensington Palace, external, for the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Louis, external.

    The company's chief executive has been telling BBC Radio Cumbria about the discussions that led to the royal order.

    Steve Coogan (pictured right) has been shortlisted for the Leading Actor Bafta award for his portrayal of Stan Laurel in Stan & Ollie, a biopic of the Ulverston-born comedian and his partner Oliver Hardy.

    Coogan is up against Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born, Christian Bale in Vice, Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody and Viggo Mortensen from Green Book.

    Stan & Ollie is released on Friday while the awards will be held on 10 February.

    A system which allows members of the public to send videos and photographs directly to Cumbrian police officers is saving time and money, the force has claimed.

    If the police believe someone has footage that could help in an investigation, they send a link which can be used to upload images to the cloud which enables officers to see it within minutes.

    Supt Matt Kennerley said: "We are the first force internationally to go live with this sytem.

    "We are leading the pack here. Traditionally, we've had options to get footage off people's mobile phones but it's been very time consuming, very problematic. This is just keeping up with the technology that's available to the public."

    The charity that runs the Lake District Holocaust Project, which has gathered information about how child survivors of the Holocaust were brought to Windermere to recover in 1945, is planning an archaeological survey of the hostels where they stayed.

    The hostels had housed single workers brought to the shores of Windermere to work at a temporary flying boat factory, and for a few weeks were home to the 300 youngsters who were brought to the area to recover from their years in concentration camps while decision were made about their future.

    Archaeologists Caroline Sturdy Colls and Kevin Colls will carry out a survey to identify what remains of the estate lie hidden below ground, and then excavate some of the remains they locate.

    Volunteers will also be able to get involved in the exploration in the summer and autumn.

    Two 14-year-old boys who went missing in the Currock area of Carlisle on Saturday are believed to be together, police say.

    Liam, who is 5ft 3in, and was wearing jeans and a blue jacket, was last seen in the Beaumont Road area, while Lewis, 5ft 4in and dressed in a dark green t-shirt and skinny blue tracksuit bottoms, was last seen in Brisco Road.

    Police say they are concerned for their welfare, and say anyone who sees them should call 999.

    A Cumbrian charity that's celebrating its 20th year of fundraising has plunged into 2019 with a dip in the lake at Windermere.

    The Cumbrian Community Foundation, external, which has raised large sums after serious flooding as well as regularly helping elderly people pay heating bills during the winter months and supporting other local causes, is hoping to raise a £250,000 this year.

    One of the trustees, Richard Roberts, says he hopes people will raise money for the fund through the year.

    The award-winning restaurant in the oldest house in Kendal, Castle Dairy, is being closed by Kendal College, which used it to train students.

    Three full-time staff and two apprentices, who will be qualified by the time of closure, will be helped to find new jobs, the college said.

    The building dates back 700 years, and the college principal, Kelvin Nash, said the closure at the end of March was not an easy decision to take.

    Bookings will be honoured until then, and Mr Nash said the college was looking for new uses for the building.

    More of the St Bees coastline could come under the designation of heritage coast, meaning tighter planning regulations, but also opportunities for more grant funding and other advantages.

    The proposal is to extend the area northwards towards Whitehaven, external, taking in some remains of the coal mining industry as well as a longer length of cliffs and inshore waters, and the public are being asked for their views for the next six weeks..

    It's the only area of high sea cliffs in the north west, and the only heritage coast between Wales and Scotland.

    A Heritage Lottery grant worth £2.27m over the next four years has been given to a string of projects to look after part of Cumbria that was included in the extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in 2016.

    The 21 projects, external will be overseen by the Friends of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, and they will take place in the high area of limestone dales with Maulds Meaburn at the northern end, Tebay in the south west, and Ravenstonedale in the south east.

    The landscape includes rare limestone pavements and grasslands, 79 scheduled ancient monuments, and a number of sites of special scientific interest and nature reserves.

    The chairman of the dales national park, Carl Lis, said the projects would "reveal and conserve the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage; and promote the understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities, its tranquil and unspoilt character, and its unique heritage".

    Visits to ward three at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven have been suspended because of an outbreak of norovirus, also knowwn as the winter vomiting bug.

    People who feel their visit is essential have been asked to contact the ward manager.

    A man from Carlisle who was spared a prison sentence for dangerous driving has been locked up after trying to head-butt a police officer just a few days later.

    Luke Whitfield, 21,from Wigton Road, was given a suspended sentence and was banned from driving in November after police had followed him through the city at up to 73mph.

    Today Carlisle Crown Court was told that just eight days later he got into further trouble on Carlisle's Botchergate while drunk, abusing one police officer and trying to attack another.

    Today, Whitfield admitted assaulting an emergency worker, and was sentenced to serve 26 weeks of the suspended term of term of eight months, with an extra week on for this offence.
