    It will remain dry through the evening, but cloud will continue to increase as rain arrives from the southwest during the early hours of Thursday with lows of 5C (41F).

    It's a wet and windy start to tomorrow but it will then be a brighter day with plenty of sunshine and a few scattered showers.

    A Peak District project that helps people to improve their employment and life skills has won a UK National Parks Volunteer Award.

    Fit for Work received a £1,000 bursary towards future volunteering efforts.

    It's run by the Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland Community Rehabilitation Company and helps people learn dry stone walling, leading to NVQ certificates in countryside management.

  7. National park sells off woodlandpublished at 16:17

    The Peak District National Park Authority has sold off six woodlands to 'reduce liabilities' at a time of budget cuts, with plans to dispose of a further six areas.

    It's sold 7.54 hectares (18.6 acres) of woodland in separate plots, raising £60,000 in the process.

    The new owners face restrictions on the use of the plots.

    Fire crews are dealing with a fire in an old lift shaft at the former Derby Royal Infirmary building.

    Smoke can be seen billowing from the roof of the premises in London Road.

    Staffordshire-based JCB is celebrating the production of its100,000th mini excavator today.

    Its first mini excavator weighing 1.4 tonnes rolled off the production line in 1989 when just over 450 machines were made.

    By 1992, there were four models in the range and annual production rates had risen to 1,000 units, while there are now 22 models between one and 10 tonnes.

    Rebecca Price, who was reported missing to police, has been found safe and well.

    The 16-year-old had last been seen in Chesterfield town centre yesterday.

    Alfreton Town have signed winger Lindon Meikle on contract, external until the end of next season.

    Meikle, 27, joined the Reds initially on a month's non-contract basis last month following his release by Macclesfield Town.

    Burton winger Mark Duffy's loan deal from Birmingham will cover the League One play-offs, if the Brewers miss out on automatic promotion.

    Duffy's delighted to be staying at the Pirelli Stadium and said: “I’m really enjoying my football here and just want to carry on what we are doing.

    "It’s great to be playing games week in week out because that's something I really enjoy.

    "I’m pleased with the way I’m playing, but I just want to take one or two more chances when they come my way.”
