    Police are appealing for help to find 16-year-old Rebecca Price, who has been reported missing from home, external.

    Burton Albion have extended Mark Duffy's loan from Birmingham City until the end of the season.

    The winger has been keen to extend his stay at the Pirelli Stadium and scored the only goal in Saturday's win at home to Blackpool.

  4. Free screening to check for 'silent killer'published at 12:16

    Abnormal aortic aneurisum, known as the silent killer or triple A, is caused when the main blood vessel in the body weakens and expands. It can rupture and be fatal.

    A leading vascular surgeon in Derby says he's concerned not everyone is taking up the offer of screening for the condition.

    Greg McMahon, who works, at the Royal Derby Hospital says the local take-up rate for screening is high but could always be better.

    He said: "We've screened about 85% of eligible patients and it is done nearer to the patient, so there are several clinics we run in the community."

    Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough is looking for some defensive cover in the January transfer window.

    Centre-back Tom Flanagan needs an appendix operation and could miss up to six weeks.

    Burton are top of League One, but Clough still thinks he'll be busy as he needs cover in the full-back area, with two or three loan signings likely and a similar number likely to go out on loan.

    Research completed by an online firm which supports small businesses says Derby is the UK's business start-up capital, external.

    The criteria included commercial property, energy prices, public transport, broadband service, workforce demographics and quality of life.

    Derby’s affordable cost of living, cheap virtual office rates and sky-high wages all helped the city to outshine more established business centres, such as London and Edinburgh.

    The London-based firm's findings looked at all 69 cities in the UK and also highlighted Derby as having some of the UK’s fastest internet speeds.

  8. Heart screening saved man's lifepublished at 11:15

    A man whose life was saved by hospital staff after he developed a heart aneurysm is urging more people to have screening for the condition.

    John Sommerville, 68, had emergency surgery at the Royal Derby Hospital after suffering from an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

    The screening has been offered to everyone over the age of 65 but some people have still yet to be checked.

    Burton Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has been nominated for the League One player of the month, external award for December.

    McLaughlin kept three clean sheets in five matches and saved a penalty against Doncaster.

    Derby County say new signing Nick Blackman, external is capable of performing out wide or as a striker.

    The 26-year-old is the club's second signing of the January transfer window after the arrival of Abdoul Camara from French side Angers SCO.

  15. Hat in chimney could have 'warded off evil spirits'published at 09:42

    Antiques expert Charles Hanson said there could be a reasonable explanation for how a 200-year-old top hat became wedged up a fireplace at a Georgian farmhouse in Derbyshire.

    The hat made from beaver fur is due to be auctioned off next month.

    He said: "Often in chimneys of very old properties you do find lucky items that were placed in chimney breasts as far back as the 16th Century to ward off evil spirits, such as dead cats or other objects."

    A 200-year-old hat is going under the hammer after being discovered at a Georgian farmhouse in Derbyshire.
