    Self-employed builder Jason Lawrance didn't react when sentenced at Derby Crown Court today.

    The court was told his wife was standing by him, although that has been disputed by family members.

    Sentencing Jason Lawrance at Derby Crown Court today, Judge Gregory Dickinson said: "You have shown no remorse, zero appreciation of the seriousness of these offences, of the pain you have inflicted on these ladies their families and friends. The court must impose a life sentence."

    Afterwards the judge asked for more information from match.com and the police to see what lessons might be learned.

    Four of Lawrance's victims had reported his behaviour to match.com but the site didn't remove his profile.

    Police believe serial rapist Jason Lawrance had been in contact with thousands of women over the years.

    He was a member of the dating website match.com and was said to have preyed on vulnerable middle-aged women across many counties, including Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

    Jason Lawrance has been told he will serve a minimum term of 12-and-a-half years after being convicted of seven sex attacks.

    The judge said: "I am convinced you are devious, manipulative and highly dangerous to women. Given the chance you will rape again."

    Jason Lawrance has been jailed for life for raping five women and attacking two more after meeting them on an internet dating site.

    The judge described the 50-year-old as "devious, manipulative and highly dangerous to women".

    Beauty queen Talulah Eve Brown, who was thrown out of a bar in Burton, says a bouncer called her '"sick" and told her she was banned for life as she returned from using the female toilets.

    BBC Radio Derby has tried contacting the owner of Bar 15 but has yet to receive a response.

    Detectives investigating the discovery of a woman's body following a house fire in Chesterfield have appealed for information.

    The woman, who has not yet been named, was found in Catherine Street shortly after 02:00.

    I mentioned the rottweiler, nicknamed Elvis, who sadly has had to be put down after vets found he had organ failure.

    We first reported on him being found abandoned in January, and he was taken to Crowfoot Kennels in Church Broughton.

    Dean Gregory from the charity said: "We had got a couple that visited Derby every weekend and were prepared to take him on, and they're devastated.

    "But they understand that the treatment that he's had was the best treatment he could have had and the decision, I think we all agree, was the best decision."

    Serial rapist Jason Lawrance is due to be sentenced at Derby Crown Court for attacking women he met on an online dating site.

    Through victim statements, the court has been hearing how Lawrance "affected the women all in the same way" and that they "lost their confidence and trust in men".

    A woman's been found dead in a house in Chesterfield today following a fire.

    A neighbour in Catherine Street Deaton Josephs was woken up around the time the fire began, and said: "I could hear some funny noises outside. My van's outside and I thought someone was trying to break into it.

    "Coming outside and looking round my van I saw the smoke coming out of the house, and I ran back inside to get my phone to ring the fire engines.

    "It's a feeling of shock and upset because when I got there it was just smoke coming out but by the time the fire engines were coming there were like flames. I was thinking she wasn't home because I was banging on the door for five minutes."

    Help has been promised to victims of abuse at a former hospital in Derbyshire.

    About 20 former patients at Aston Hall have come forward in recent months to say they were drugged, tied up and abused.

    BBC Radio Sheffield reporter Andy Kershaw has been to the scene of a fire at a house in Chesterfield.

    A woman's body was found inside the premises in Catherine Street earlier.

    Neighbour Deaton Josephs raised the alarm and tried to break down the door, describing the occupant as "a friendly, bubbly single mum".

    More now on the decision of Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen to commit to another three years with the county.

    Some good news for followers of Derbyshire cricket as captain Wayne Madsen has committed his long-term future to the county by signing a three-year contract extension.

    More on a story we've been following closely about whether Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire will get an elected mayor, which appears to be in doubt now after another council pulled out of negotiations.

    Amber Valley Borough Council voted by 22 votes to 21 last night to reject the devolution deal, which would bring new powers and money to the region's local authorities.

    She said: "We've only examined Jason Lawrance's activity through match.com ... we know that he has made contact with a substantial amount of females.

    "That's not to say that he's sexually assaulted all the females he's been in contact with, but it would be impossible to know exactly how many people he has contacted or how many victims are out there."
