    Here's the full statement, external from Severn Trent Water on its announcement that normal service should be resumed at some point after midday tomorrow.

    The firm's spokesman would not be drawn on exactly how long it would be before water in affected postcodes would be safe to use.

    Jonathan Smith, from Severn Trent Water, has just told us the company expects to have the system flushed by midday tomorrow.

    He said: "We’ll then get supply through and we’d hope that, subject to testing, we can look at returning everything to normal as soon as possible."

    He also said it was now safe for customers in affected postcodes, external to flush their toilets.

    The newly-published list of individual postcodes, external affected by the chlorine issue is very useful as it significantly reduces the number of potential homes affected.

    For example, there are only two DE15 postcodes where residents are being told not to use water.

    Not such good news if you live in DE11 or DE73 though - dozens of postcodes are listed.

    In its most recent statement, Severn Trent Water said: "We believe around 3,700 customer are potentially affected in total, and we have been in touch with our most vulnerable customers to see what their needs are.
