The NSPCC has condemned the abuse of young girls by 87-year-old George Cobbledick - who was jailed for 15 years for the attacks on girls aged eight and 12.
Cobbledick, from Derby, was found guilty of rape and serious sexual assaults against the eight-year-old in the early 2000s.
At Derby Crown Court he was also convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the mid-1990s.
Now a spokesman for the children's charity has said: "Cobbledick's campaign of abuse will have had a devastating impact on his young victims and by denying his crimes, he subjected them to even more pain and suffering.
"We commend their courage in helping to bring him to justice and hopefully this sentence will bring them a sense of closure."

Someone else had written: “Manchester always united. The spirit of the city lives on.”
A spokeswoman for the city council said this book and a second at Clifton Cornerstone would stay open "for as long as people needed them".
They will then be sent to the Mayor of Manchester.
