    This weekend is the Bakewell Carnvial and in the lead up to it, children from the local area, including Sheffield, have been in the Peak District for the annual Make a Raft Race down the river.

    It will remain cloudy and unsettled this evening and overnight, with further outbreaks of rain.

    Friday will be another unsettled day, with the cloud remaining stubborn in places.

    Although some lengthy dry spells are possible, a band of patchy rain will push south eastwards during the afternoon.

    Travellers have been issued a notice by Derby City Council to vacate Chaddesden Park following reports of illegal trespassing.

    Council officers, along with Derbyshire Police, issued the notice - which means the travellers must leave the site immediately.

    The council said, external if the notice is not complied with, officers will issue court proceedings to seek to gain possession of the land on Friday morning.

  13. Murder probe after man dies following alleged assaultpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 69-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted in Staveley.

    Derbyshire Police said, external the man was attacked on 21 June in the Beechers Brook pub on High Street.

    The man - named by police as Peter Matts, of Staveley - was taken to hospital in Sheffield but has now died from his injuries.

    As part of the police's investigation, officers have released this CCTV image of a man, woman and child.

    The force believes they could have been witnesses to the incident and have urged them to get in touch with officers.

    A 45-year-old man, from Staveley, has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

    He is due to appear at Derby Crown Court on Monday 24 July.

    Additional security will be put in place for this weekend's Little Mix concert at Donington Park, Leicestershire Police has confirmed.

    Police have said following the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London, security at the event has been reviewed and now extra measures will be put in place - including armed officers patrolling with unarmed colleagues.

    Music fans are also being warned that bags will be searched, so it may take a bit of extra time to get inside.

    There's also a warning about the extra traffic on the roads for the event on Saturday. Roads near the park are expected to be busy before the concert starts at 17:30 BST and after it finishes at 21:30.

    Police are asking for the public to help them find this man who has breached his prison licence...

    Sean Perry was last seen at his probation-approved address in Leicester on 19 June. He failed to return later that day.

    Police claim "extensive enquiries" have been conducted to find the 46-year-old but without success.

    They ask that if you see him, you should not approach him but call the police.

    A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving over a fatal crash in Nottinghamshire last year.

    Road closed

    Dominique Wright, 23, from the Lincoln area, was a passenger in the vehicle which crashed in Southwell Road, between High Cross and Thurgarton Village on 30 October last year.

    She died at the scene.

    A 24-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving with alcohol over the prescribed limit.

    He has been bailed and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 27 July.
