    Chef Hazel Paterson is one of many cooks that feature in our Do Your Food Friday Thing recipe book, which was compiled by BBC Radio Leicester.

    It includes recipes from Leicestershire chefs and is available now priced at £7.50. All profits will go to BBC Children in Need.

    A 45-year-old man suffered a broken jaw when he was assaulted twice in one evening.

    Derbyshire Police said the man , externalwas punched and kicked to the ground on Saturday.

    Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault.

    It happened between 12:05 and 12:30 in Ilkeston Market Place.

    The transport secretary, MP Chris Grayling, has praised Nottingham railway station and city transport system.

    He visited Nottingham earlier today and said the city was a "real exemplar on how to build an integrated transport hub in the heart of the city".

    Mr Grayling also praised the £150m refurbishment of the station which has seen it link trains with the tram network, car park and cycle hub.

    He said: "I very much support local initiatives designed to try and get people onto public transport where there is a smart public transport system like this.

    "And what Nottingham has done with the tram shows you can really deliver growth in a whole variety of ways."

    These "extremely rare" African banknotes have been stolen from a house in Leicestershire.

    Two men entered a property in Syston Road, Queniborough, on Thursday between 11:50 and 12:10 and took the notes along with jewellery and cash.

    They made off in a vehicle which was parked in Rearsby Road behind the house.

    Police are urging pawnbrokers and antique dealers to contact them if they have been approached by someone trying to sell the seven 100 shilling notes.

    Det Con Richard Wilson said: “These African 100 shilling notes are extremely rare and we are sure the perpetrators will try and sell these notes on."

    A 17-year-old boy has been charged with grievous bodily harm following an "incident" in Aspley.

    Nottinghamshire Police said, external a man suffered facial injuries on Saturday in Broxtowe Lane.

    About half an hour later, East Midlands Ambulance Service said another man suffered a stab wound to his chest.

    The road was closed on Saturday for investigations

    The teenager was arrested shortly afterwards and is due to appear at Nottingham Youth Court today.

    A 16-year-old boy, who was arrested yesterday, remains in police custody.

    Two other youths, aged 15 and 19, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

    These collectible coins with images of famous racehorses inscribed on them have been stolen from a property in Nottingham.

    The break-in happened at Brownlow Drive in Rise Park earlier this month.

    The distinctive coins were stolen alongside jewellery and cash.

    More than 50 weapons and 600 rounds of ammunition were handed in to Leicestershire Police in the first week of a national firearms surrender.

    The firearms that were handed in include five shotguns, three revolvers - including one from World War Two - 22 blank firers, pistols, flare guns and air weapons.

    Forces across the country are taking part in the surrender, which started last week.

    It is not, however, an amnesty - police can investigate offences connected to the weapons prior to their surrender.
