    Delays are building up on the M1 between junctions 23a and 24 for Kegworth northbound because of an accident.

    It happened in the roadworks area and has closed two lanes.

    These unique pieces of art have been created to mark the Queen and Prince Phillip's 70th wedding anniversary today.

    The portraits of both royals were created by Joy Pitts, from Ilkeston, using name tags like those sewn into school uniforms.

    Each label displays the name of a soldier who died in World War One.

    Buckingham Palace wrote to the artist to tell her the Queen was touched by her work.

    Joy's pieces will be displayed at The Makers Gallery in Ashbourne this week.

    A 63-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years for sexually abusing three girls over a 30-year period.

    Ian Warren, of no fixed address, was found guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday of 27 sexual offences including rape and sexual activity with a child.

    Nottinghamshire Police said one of Warren's victims was abused at a house in Nottingham and another in Derbyshire.

    One girl was abused between 1980 and 1985, another from September 2008 to December 2010; and the third girl was attacked between November 2008 and November 2011.

    PC Ruth Holmes, from the force, said: "Warren's victims have shown exceptional bravery... [and] have conducted themselves admirably."

    Warren was placed on the sex offenders' register for life and was handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He will serve an additional two years on licence on top of the 18 years jail time.

    A charity that supports people with mental health issues is fighting to remain open after losing its funding.

    The Touchwood Centre in Ilkeston is run by Erewash Mental Health Association and currently has 40 regular users.

    Bosses say it has lost funding from both Derbyshire County Council and Erewash Clinical Commissioning Group.

    The closure would mean four job losses at the centre in Ilkeston.

    Director Lesley Grand-Scrutton said: "If we don't get any further funding we shall probably have to close in probably six to eight months time.

    "Our previous funding was about £100,00 on an annual basis but anything we can get will help us stay open longer."

    Derbyshire County Council says it's investing £620,000 in a new recovery and support service.

    Staff at a Nottingham off-licence were threatened with a knife and a baseball bat during a robbery last night, police said.

    The robbers stole a large quantity of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol from Valley Farm Stores in Knight's Close, Top Valley at about 19:40.

    They also reportedly tried to smash their way into the shop’s till before fleeing the scene.

    Two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy remain in police custody.

    Hundreds of families flocked to the Old Market Square in Nottingham for the Christmas lights switch-on.

    The event on Friday kicked off with performances from St Mary’s Church choir and live music from singers.

    The council house and the surrounding streets has been decked out with lights while the Christmas tree has taken centre stage in the market square.

    Nottingham's mayor Mike Edwards and the sheriff Glyn Jenkins switched the lights on although there was a slight technical glitch which saw the lights go out for a few seconds before coming back on.

    But visitors enjoyed Winter Wonderland and the Ice Bar, which has a Narnia-Esque theme this year.

    Broxtowe MP, Anna Soubry, said her office has received 13 death threats against her.

    She said they were linked to the way she and other Conservatives were dubbed as "Brexit mutineers" in the Daily Telegraph.

    There have been 80 arrests made in recent months as part of two operations to tackle the use of drugs such as Black Mamba and Spice in Derby.

    A report by Derby City Council says St Peter's Cross is a hotspot for anti-social behaviour which is caused by just 20 users.

    There will be a temporary mobile police station based in a police van at St Peter's Cross for two weeks during the daytime.

    But the local authority says the increased police presence means there is a danger users will move elsewhere in the city.

    The report also says funding cuts to local support services have played a part in the growth of the drugs.

    The city council says it has put in "significant resources" in the last few months to tackle the problem.

    A memorial football match for Adam Johnson took place in Mickleover this weekend.

    The 12-year-old died in September after falling through the roof of the abandoned Aida Bliss factory in Chester Green.

    On Sunday, friends and family staged a game to help pay for a memorial to Adam but the family are yet to decide on exactly what that will be.

    His mum Kerry said: "Adam would have absolutely loved this, he would have loved everyone coming and he loved football anyway.

    "Really, really emotional but extremely grateful for everyone that has put this on for us today."

    A document unearthed in the National Archives by a University of Nottingham academic has revealed a confession from an MI6 chief in 1952.

    Sir Stewart Menzies - known as "C" - revealed to a minister that for close to a decade, he had an account that would become known as the "unofficial reserve" - in practice his own, secret slush fund.

    "The use of such unofficial reserves by 'C' without the prior consent of the Foreign Office, could enable him to carry out policies other than those approved by the Foreign Office and without their knowledge," the document records.

    Researcher Dr Rory Cormac said it was a "bombshell of an inheritance".

    But questions remain. Where did the money - about £1.4m (£39m in today's money) - come from? What did it make possible? Who was the mysterious American who donated it - and why did they do it?

    Two men remain in a serious but stable condition after an "incident" in Aspley.

    Nottinghamshire Police said a man , externalsuffered facial injuries on Saturday at about 11:35 in Broxtowe Lane.

    About half an hour later, East Midlands Ambulance Service said another man suffered a stab wound to his chest.

    A friend of a motorcyclist killed in a crash at the Macau Grand Prix said he had a strong feeling something .

    Daniel Hegarty, 31, from Nottingham, (pictured below) suffered fatal injuries when he came off his bike on a sharp bend.

    Roger Edwards, who helped the father-of-two with his motorbike charity, said he had trouble sleeping before the race in China and feared for the rider.

    Mr Edwards said the sportsman was "magical" and a great friend.

    Mr Hegarty, who raced for Top Gun Racing Honda, was flung into barriers during lap six and suffered fatal injuries.

    He died on the way to hospital.
