    Ambitious proposals to transform Beeston town centre have been unveiled.

    Work will start on planning the development which will include a cinema, cafes, bars and about 100 new homes.

    Broxtowe Borough Council is looking for a developer and is in "continuing negotiations with a cinema operator".

    Derby City Council is putting up additional crowd barriers around the market place's Christmas tree as winds of 50 miles per hour are predicted this evening.

    The barriers will form a wider exclusion zone around the tree and will be removed once the weather improves.

    A PCSO who successfully resuscitated a man who stopped breathing has said "it felt rewarding" to save his life.

    Three officers were called to Beastmarket Hill on Monday evening where they found the 37-year-old with no pulse.

    PCSO Jordon Villums gave the man CPR and got him breathing before paramedics arrived.

    He said: "It was a relief more than anything...It is very rewarding and I am very proud of myself for doing it but I can't take all the credit, there was a lot of people involved.

    "I have heard he has made a full recovery which is great."

    The director of two companies who claimed he had a brain cyst to get out of paying bills has been jailed for fraud.

    Alan Weston, 33, of Impey Close, Thorpe Astley admitted two counts of fraudulent trading at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday and was jailed for three years and four months.

    He was also disqualified from being a company director for eight years.

    Weston had been the director of two companies – Promoprods Ltd and 8th Wonder Merchandise Ltd – and from 2011 to 2015 he defrauded companies and customers out of more than £80,000.

    He would order goods but then fail to pay for them and also use free gifts to entice customers to make purchases which were never received.

    The court also heard that Weston would reply to complaints with excuses ranging from being in hospital, undergoing surgery, having a brain cyst, family members dying and blaming various courier services.

    A separate hearing is due to take place early in 2018 to set out confiscating the proceeds from Weston’s fraudulent activities.

    A week of festivals is being held to commemorate the Pilgrims’ story.

    Local councils have organised the Pilgrims’ Illuminate Festival, external which runs until Sunday in North Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

    A car was abandoned after it was crashed into a fence in St Ann's.

    Nottinghamshire Police said three people in the Skoda Fabia left the car after it crashed in St Ann's Way.

    Officers said the three people then got into a Toyota Hilux which drove off down Shelton Street on Monday at about 19:35.

    There has been almost an 80% decrease in the number of pot holes on Derbyshire roads, the county council said.

    County Hall sank an extra £6m into its roads budget resulting in it ranking first in the snappily titled 2017 National Highways and Transport Network residents’ satisfaction survey.

    Latest council figures show that at the end of October 2017 there were 539 highways defects – including potholes, sunken ironworks, damaged kerbs and gullies - awaiting repair.

    This was a 78.6% reduction from the 2,515 faults awaiting repair at the same time in 2016.

    Christmas trees grown by people with disabilities in Nottinghamshire have gone on sale.

    Five to seven foot spruce trees and Nordmans are for sale at Brooke Farm in Linby which supports training opportunities for people with disabilities.

    A Christmas event will be held at the farm on Saturday where there will be a variety of stalls and children can visit Santa's grotto.

    County councillor Stuart Wallace, chairman of the adult social care and public health committee said: "Buying one of their trees helps support a very good cause."

    A 25-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Leicestershire.

    The crash happened on the B591 Copt Oak Road, at the junction with Beacon Road, near Beacon Hill Country Park, at about 7:15 on Tuesday.

    The collision involved a silver Ford Mondeo and a blue Triumph Sprint motorcycle and officers are asking for anyone who witnessed it to get in touch.

    A team of PCSOs helped to save a man's life after he collapsed in Nottingham city centre, police said.

    Nottinghamshire Police were called to Beastmarket Hill at 19:00 on Monday where they found the 37-year-old with no pulse.

    One officer gave him CPR while another assisted and a third officer arranged for a defibrillator to be brought to the scene.

    But the CPR worked on the man who was then taken to the Queen's Medical Centre.

    Insp Ruby Burrow said: "The actions of the PCSOs undoubtedly saved his life and I am very proud of them."

    Four people have been arrested in connection with a series of attacks on cash machines across the East Midlands.

    Two men, aged 36 and 31, were arrested in Warwickshire on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and are in custody in Leicestershire.

    Officers have also raided premises in Mere Lane, Lutterworth, and searches are being carried out. Two women, aged 29 and 38, have also been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

    Det Ch Insp Martin Smalley, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “There has been a dedicated team of detectives investigating the recent spate, and our work is still very much ongoing."

    Detectives are also investigating this morning's attack on an ATM at Tesco Express (pictured) which could be linked to other recent thefts.
