    Police are investigating a late night assault on a woman in Derby.

    The woman was walking along a path off Duke Street (pictured) last Thursday when she was assaulted by a man who then ran off towards Darley Park.

    Police said the attack took place between 22:00-23:00.

    The Princess Royal will be given a tour of the £5.5m building, meet dignitaries and then unveil a plaque.

    Councillor Joe Orson, leader of Melton Borough Council, admitted he was "delighted" Princess Anne had agreed to come.

    An MP has raised concerns over the release from prison of double child killer Colin Pitchfork.

    Pitchfork, who raped and murdered 15-year-old schoolgirls Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth in 1983 and 1986 in Leicestershire, has been allowed out of prison under escort.

    He's also been pictured on an unsupervised visit to Bristol.

    Alberto Costa, MP for South Leicestershire, said he wanted assurances from the Ministry of Justice that his constituents were safe.

    In response, justice secretary David Gauke told the Commons that the victim's families had been consulted.

    Chris Sutton has admitted he is "surprised" with the forwards his old club Chelsea have been linked with, including Leicester's Islam Slimani, as they step up their search for a target man.

    The 29-year-old Algerian international, external is among a host of names, including Peter Crouch and Ashley Barnes, to have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

    "I have got to say I am surprised with the names that have been mentioned," Sutton told BBC Sport.

    Slimani, Leicester's club-record signing, has struggled to hold down a regular first team place since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2016.

    A woman joked about her former husband killing her a week before she died, a court has heard.

    Ashwin Daudia, 51, is on trial for the murder of his ex-wife, 46-year-old Kiran Daudia (pictured), in January last year.

    It is claimed that Mr Daudia, who denies murder, put Mrs Daudia's body in a suitcase and left it in an alleyway.

    This morning, Leicester Crown Court heard from the pair's son, Shivam Daudia, 18, who said his mother had laughed and said: "What if he [Ashwin Daudia] ends up killing me?"

    The 18-year-old also said he'd seen his father take a suitcase out of the attic.

    The trial continues.

    You may have seen that Ben Bradley, the 28-year-old Mansfield MP, was under some pressure last week after a series of controversial blog posts came to light.

    After turning down several offers for interview from BBC Radio Nottingham, he repeated his apology for his comments in a Facebook video, external, and said he hopes to get back to focusing on his job.

    Addressing the benefits blog specifically, in which he suggested benefits claimants should have vasectomies, he said his comments about limiting the number of children people could have was a way of articulating how "people find it frustrating when a very small minority of people appear to take advantage of the benefits system".

    He pointed to the benefits cap and the two-child limit on extra payments as a way of dealing with the issues raised, and "language aside", said he stands by the point he was trying to make.

    Dog walkers in the New Whittington area are being asked by police for help after a 15-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted earlier this month.

    Derbyshire Police said the girl told officers she was walking with an older boy she knew through Brearley Park when he assaulted her on the morning of 15 January.

    A force spokesman said a 17-year-old boy has been "voluntarily interviewed" in connection with the report.

    The girl said a man and a woman were walking a dog in the area at the time, and officers are looking for them to come forward and help them with their investigation.

    There was some respite last night from the recent bitter temperatures, but it's been a tough cold winter for rough sleepers in the city.

    At the weekend Nottingham's main fire station was opened up as a temporary homeless shelter.

    The city council and British Red Cross have partnered with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue to use the building on London Road when temperatures plummet, which has been welcomed by homeless people.

    There has been a slight delay in moving the large brewery vessels (see 09:26) to Alfreton.

    Having come off the A38 at Kedleston Road, they could not get past this traffic light.

    However, a swift adjustment and they were back on the way again, bound for Alfreton.

    It's a shopping area that has been described as Newark's 'Jewel in the Crown', but shop-owners at The Arcade off Market Square are worried about a string of vandalism to local businesses.

    The area houses several independent shops, including an art gallery, a mobile phone shop, a dressmakers and a barbers, but since December they have been broken into several times.

    One computer games shop was completely cleared out, and others have had their shopfronts vandalised.

    A spokesman for Newark and Sherwood District Council says they are aware of the issues, and there have been some arrests. But shop-keepers say they're worried who will be next, and have launched a petition to have gates put up at either side of the arcade.

    A council has issued a warning about a number of places that are serving desserts with twice the recommended daily sugar intake in them.

    Derbyshire County Council said the public would be "shocked" if they knew how much sugar was in a "Freakshake" - a milkshake topped with extras including doughnuts and biscuits.

    John Stewart, from the authority's trading standards department, added: "These aren't a drink, these are something to be consumed very rarely rather than frequently".

    The NHS advice is that sugar should not make up more than 5% of someone's calorie intake each day, this, it believes is about 30g.
