Health bosses in Derbyshire are considering opening creches for nursing staff across the county to help them recruit more workers.
The move is among the options being considered by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust as it works to plug a shortfall of 400 nurses.
The trust said it wanted to make roles more flexible to take into account the work/life balance for staff.
Amanda Rawlings, who is helping to draw up a new People Strategy, said: "As a trust we operate out of more than 100 locations across the county and could look into introducing creches to some of these, if that would help retain or bring in more staff.
"The NHS as a whole does have an issue with the gap between people leaving and joining, which isn't huge in Derbyshire or within our trust, but there are 400 open positions for nurses Derbyshire-wide."
