    A Rutland zoo owner who dresses up as Captain America has turned out to be a real-life superhero, external.

    Jozef Mordawska, who plays the superhero to entertain children at Bugtopia The Zoo, at Rutland Water, pretended to be the comic book legend to calm an 11-year-old boy who had injured himself after falling 200 feet down cliffs in Devon.

    Derby North MP Chris Williamson has questioned whether the chemical attack in Douma that prompted UK air strikes in Syria actually took place.

    He told BBC Daily Politics: "I just think before we enter into a situation where we're committing air strikes, potentially leading to a wider conflagration in the region, possibly pitching two nuclear super-powers against one another, we need better evidence than was presented."

    Theresa May said at the weekend the UK government had worked with its allies to establish what happened and "a significant body of information, including intelligence, indicates the Syrian regime is responsible for this latest attack".

    A 19-year-old man has been found in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham with "minor cuts" to his leg - thought to have been caused by a knife.

    Police have said they discovered the man after being called to Rushworth Close at about 18:30 yesterday.

    Highways England has said traffic between junctions 22 and 21A of the M1 has been released but two of the three lanes remain closed while the fire service deals with a car fire.

    If you commute into Nottingham you might think the traffic is horrendous but apparently it's getting better.

    The Department for Transport has said journey times in the city seem to be quicker despite there being more cars on Nottinghamshire's roads.

    Over 400,000 cars were registered in the county last year - that's 29,000 more than five years ago.

    Back in January, research for the Local Government Association found congestion had gone down in Nottingham since the introduction of the Workplace Parking Levy.

    Matej Vydra has been named as the Derby County Supporters' Club Player of the Year for the 2017/18 season.

    The 25-year-old forward picked up the award at the club's end-of-season dinner at Pride Park Stadium last night, external.

    The Czech Republic international has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Derby this season, scoring 20 goals.

    It's not the first time the DMU Gospel Choir has been up on the big stage - they performed at Leicester's King Power with Kasabian two years ago.

    Jerry from the choir told the BBC it was a "crazy day" seeking verification from everyone. The episode was actually filmed a while ago so Jerry said he was "jumping and screaming" with excitement when he watched it on TV on Saturday.

    A scheme to speed up hospital recovery rates that was piloted in Nottingham is being rolled out nationwide.

    England's chief nurse, Professor Jane Cummings, is spearheading a drive to end "pyjama paralysis" by persuading patients to get back into normal clothes as quickly as possible during hospital stays.

    She said evidence showed staying in nightwear reinforces feeling unwell and can prevent a speedy recovery.

    The push has been piloted in Nottingham and eight other areas since last year and is credited with reducing total hospital stays by 91,728 days.

    Prof Cummings said: "One of the most valuable resources is a patients’ time and getting people up and dressed is a vital step in ensuring that they do not spend any longer than is clinically necessary in hospital."

    GPs at a surgery in Thurmaston have been ordered to stop seeing patients following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

    The CQC said it is taking "urgent enforcement action" to close Thurmaston Health Centre - which has about 7,600 registered patients - after an inspection last week.

    It has said it is now working closely with West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England to make sure patients still have access to a GP.

    The CCG said services previously provided by Leicester Medical Group at Thurmaston Health Centre have been transferred to the provision of Charnwood GP Network.

    A well-known illustrator has told the BBC she's facing more and more cases of the illegal use of her work.

    Sarah J Coleman from Hinckley claims she's been a victim of copyright theft several times - most recently over the use of this book cover.

    She said this image has so far been used on 24 different products without her permission which has a financial implication on her business.

    She believes a lot of people have the opinion "if it's on the internet it's mine for the taking".

    She's since taken measures to stop these sales or to receive some of the profits.

    A man needed hospital treatment after being punched twice in the face, external when he overtook a car being driven erratically through Derby.

    The 44-year-old, from Belper, told police he had passed the Vauxhall Astra after it kept braking sharply in front of him near Markeaton Island.

    The Vauxhall driver then got out of his vehicle when they were stopped at traffic lights further along and hit him twice in the face.

    Police have appealed for witnesses to the alleged assault, which happened at about 14:45 on Easter Sunday.

    A pair of chairs that featured in the first Harry Potter movie are expected to sell for thousands when they're put under the hammer by a Derbyshire auction firm.

    The two red armchairs sat in the Gryffindor common room at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in scenes from 2001 film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

    They form part of a set of four that were bought by a London-based collector of movie memorabilia several years ago. The other two sold for £4,200 at an auction last month.

    Etwall-based Hansons Auctioneers will be selling the remaining pair at London's Normansfield Theatre on 28 April with an estimate of £5,000-£10,000.
