A man armed with a hammer has attempted to rob a restaurant in Nottingham. It comes five days after cash was stolen in a similar robbery at the adjoining hotel.
Police have said a man went into Millers Barn Beefeater in Cinderhill at about 01:10 yesterday. He threatened staff and demanded money before making his way to the Premier Inn hotel where he made more threats to staff. He left empty handed and no-one was injured.
Police are linking this with a robbery at the hotel on 14 June where a man with a hammer jumped over the counter and stole cash from the till.

A bar has had its live music licence withdrawn by the council after complaints about loud performances of tracks by AC/DC, the Sex Pistols and The Jam.
A Leicester City Council report says the team heard the noise nuisance on five different occasions over the course of seven months.
Councillors approved environmental health officers' recommendation to withdraw the bar's licence following noise complaints from neighbours.
Tom Hodgson, bar manager at Pi, on Narborough Road, said he will now look for a new venue out of the city.
Mr Hodgson said: "Will I renew my licence? I won't, because all I have ever wanted to do is run a live music venue.
"Loud music is a dark art, sometimes you expect lots of people and have three or four turn up, other times it's the other way round.
"We've never had any complaints before and we're in a heavily residential area so we must have been doing something right."

The billboards are in car parks, on industrial estates and residential streets - this one is at the Asda store in Oadby.
Others can be found in Loughborough, Derby and Nottingham.

A kitten had its leg amputated after it was caught in a suspected animal trap in Long Eaton.
Eight-month-old Goose went out in the garden on Sunday morning but shortly afterwards he came in with a "severe leg injury".
His owner Wendy said: “I looked at his back leg and could see it was completely mangled, most of his paw was missing and even parts of the bone were showing."
His leg was so severely damaged that the vet had to amputate it. Goose is now recovering at home.
Wendy was told by the vet that the injury was caused by some kind of animal trap. The RSPCA said it is investigating the incident.
Inspector Sarah Gardner said: “We don’t know at this stage if this was a legal trap or not but even so, legal traps have to be set in a certain manner to catch the species of animal they are intended for, they are not legally set if they trap other animals such as cats.
“People should not need to use such traps in built-up housing areas like where this incident happened."

Another Nottinghamshire council is banning the use of sky lanterns and helium balloons in parks.
Newark and Sherwood District council has made the decision because of the risk to the public and animals, as well as the environmental impact. It's also asking large venues not to release them on their land.
A similar ban was introduced last month by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
