    It's a big night for Derby County boss Frank Lampard as he goes up against his former manager Jose Mourinho in the League Cup.

    The Rams will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford at 20:00 and Lampard said he wanted his team to relish playing on such a big stage.

    He said: "We're a big underdog but that's a good challenge for us. They have a greatly talented squad amassed over Jose's time and going further back - world class players.

    "Our players should see it as a good test to go and play at Old Trafford and try to show bits of what we can do."

    A primary school in Leicester is working to get every child in one of the city's most deprived estates playing a brass instrument.

    It's after a group of children from Marriott Primary School entered the National Youth Brass Band Championships and came home with the award for the band showing most potential.

    Sheila Crichton is the headteacher at the school on the Saffron estate where 360 children are now playing a brass instrument.

    She said "The Brass of the Saff" initiative was about developing pride and achievement within the community.

    One of the pupils told the BBC she was originally "scared" at the prospect of playing an instrument but she said it was easier than she expected.

    Mrs Crichton said there's one problem the school is facing - they need more money to buy instruments and uniforms to wear while competing. They're aiming to raise nearly £14,000 using an online fundraiser.

    A Derby woman whose father was among 3,000 people who died after being infected with contaminated blood says it's been "overwhelming" attending a public inquiry into the scandal.

    The inquiry is seeking to determine how blood products infected with hepatitis viruses and HIV were given to thousands of NHS patients in the 1970s and 1980s.

    Katie Walford, from Darley Abbey, said it had been a long journey trying to get to the bottom of how her father David Hatton, who had haemophilia, died in 1998.

    She said: "It's been incredibly overwhelming, there were many tears shed. I was here [in London] with my mother so we've been supporting each other.

    "I'm someone who would like to rely on my government and health services. Unfortunately, like so many thousands of other people I've been let down."

    A Coldstream Guardsman, who was the first to wear a turban during Trooping the Colour, has tested positive for cocaine, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed.

    Charanpreet Singh Lall, 22, from Leicester, registered "high levels" of the Class A drug during a random test last week at Victoria Barracks.

    He was one of three soldiers who failed the test at the Windsor base.

    Details of the drugs tests naming Gdsm Lall were reported in The Sun, external.

    The identities of the other guardsmen have not been revealed.

    Brigadier Christopher Coles, head of army personnel services group said: "I can confirm a number of soldiers from the Coldstream Guards are under investigation for alleged drugs misuse.

    "Those caught taking drugs can expect to be discharged."

    The MoD told the BBC it would be a "matter of weeks" before any potential action is taken.

    Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel missed out on the Best Goalkeeper award at the Best Fifa Football Awards last night.

    The Dane was beaten to the honour by former Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois, external, who now plays for Real Madrid.

    Tottenham Hotspur's Hugo Lloris was the other nominee at the London ceremony.

    A street in Nottingham has been infested with maggots since the summer, according to businesses there.

    Traders on Radford Road in Hyson Green told BBC Radio Nottingham commercial bins weren't being emptied regularly by the city council as refuse collection lorries couldn't always fit down the road.

    One student who came back to Nottingham to start his third of university said he has returned to Birmingham due to the stench, which he described as "like a mixture of dog faeces and rotting meat".

    Nottingham City Council has apologised, saying commercial bin collections have been carried out regularly and it is looking into solving the maggot problem.

    A camera car is to be used in Leicestershire to try to catch people parking inappropriately outside schools.

    The county council is starting a one-year trial, costing £500,000 pounds, to address concerns from families, residents and schools about people parking in restricted zones.

    The use of number plate recognition technology will give the authority the opportunity to issue fines where appropriate.

    Some schools will also get updated signs and road markings.

    Nigel Smith was last seen in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 14:00 yesterday wearing grey trousers and a black t-shirt.

    Plans for a £26m driverless car test track on part of the site where King Richard III was killed have been recommended for approval.

    Japanese engineering firm Horiba Mira said the facility near Higham-on-the-Hill would create about 1,000 jobs.

    However, Historic England told Hinckley and Bosworth Council it could cause harm to the significance of the Bosworth Battlefield.

    Councillors have been advised to pass the plan on the second time of asking on the grounds the site was not within a conservation area and would contribute significantly to the economy.
