Second-hand smoke from drugs such as mamba and spice are putting prison healthcare staff at risk, according to a new report by the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

The use of the former legal highs is becoming more prevalent in prisons, due to their low cost and availability.

The report from trust, which runs mental heath services at a number of prisons in the county, says: "There is a risk to staff health and wellbeing from long-term prolonged inhalation of these vapours".

In a statement, the trust said: "We take this matter very seriously and have put controls in place to mitigate this risk."
