    Action has been taken to stop travellers setting up camp on Chaddesden Park.

    More than 20 wooden posts have been installed, external at the entrance to the park next to Aldi supermarket in Nottingham Road.

    Mansfield Town has announced it's to start providing free menstrual products, external to female supporters of both sides on match days.

    The club said it had been working with a campaign group and will be making sure all female toilets at Field Mill are stocked up with free tampons and sanitary towels.

    Operations director Tina Broughton said: “The club is aware that many women and girls are unable to afford menstrual products and we believe that essential items such as these should be free."

    Police have shared footage from an arrest in which two officers were badly injured by a man in Eastwood.

    Lee Wright smashed a glass bottle over a female officer's head and kicked her male colleague in the stomach after they'd been called out to reports of him acting erratically in Mansfield Road in July.

    Last week the 34-year-old, of Moon Crescent, Eastwood, was jailed for two years and eight months, external after admitting GBH and ABH at Nottingham Crown Court.

    Leicester City are through to the fourth round of the League Cup following a penalty shoot-out win over Wolves.

    Goalkeeper Danny Ward saved three penalties in the shoot-out after the game at Molineux finished goalless.

    The win was overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to Demarai Gray, who was given oxygen on the pitch and taken off on a stretcher with his leg in a brace.

    After the game, manager Claude Puel said the midfielder would be having a scan this morning to determine the extent of the injury.

    A 67-year-old woman needed hospital treatment after being injured during an attempted robbery in Derby, external.

    Police said she hurt her hip and elbow when she was pulled to the ground by a man who ran up and tried to grab her handbag.

    Witnesses are being sought following the attack, which happened near the junction of Osmaston Park Road and Abingdon Street at about 20:00 on Saturday 8 September.

    A row of homes had to be evacuated in Leicester last night after a car hit a house and caused a gas leak.

    The crash, which involved two cars, saw a car go through the railings of a house in Humberstone Lane, hit an external wall and damage its gas main.

    Nobody was injured but the road was closed while the cars were removed and the scene was made safe.

    A copy of Lady Chatterley's Lover which was used by the judge who presided over the famous 1960 obscenity trial is to be sold at auction next month.

    Eastwood author DH Lawrence's novel about a passionate affair between an aristocrat and her husband's gamekeeper saw publishing house Penguin Books put on trial.

    The paperback copy was kept in a damask bag, hand-stitched by the judge's wife for discretion, as it was carried into court each day.

    Penguin Books was found not guilty and the verdict helped to bring about a new era of liberalisation.

    The book is expected to fetch up to £15,000 when it goes under the hammer.

    It was a memorable night for Derby County as they beat Manchester United on penalties to knock them out of the League Cup.

    Frank Lampard's side had recovered from Juan Mata's early goal at Old Trafford to lead through Harry Wilson's sublime free-kick and Jack Marriott's late header.

    A 95th minute equaliser by Marouane Fellaini sent the game to penalties and the Rams held their nerve to convert every spot kick and win 8-7.

    After the game, Lampard said: "I'm shell-shocked. To go down early at Old Trafford and play as well as they did was superb. I am a proud manager."

    Royal Mail has stepped into a row between environmental campaigners and crisp manufacturer Walkers - by urging people not to post empty crisp packets.

    Campaigners encouraged people to post crisp bags to the Leicester firm to protest about them being non-recyclable.

    Royal Mail is obliged by law to deliver the bags to Walkers' freepost address but they cannot go through machines and must be sorted by hand, causing delays.

    Campaign group 38 Degrees, which encouraged people to post their crisp packets back to Walkers, has been asked to comment.

    A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We strongly encourage customers not to post anything into the postal system which is not properly packaged.

    "Crisp packets can't go through the machines, they are not normal mail items. Therefore my hardworking colleagues need to sort them manually, which adds to time."

    A student accommodation block in Nottingham has been evacuated after severe flooding.

    Nearly 100 students were moved at around 01:00 BST after water affected four floors of the Orbital apartments in Canning Circus.

    Crews from the fire and rescue service spent 45 minutes isolating water and electric supplies but the exact cause has not been revealed.

    Students were placed in alternative accommodation.
