    A collection of 12 board games said to be worth a fortune, external have been stolen from a convention in Derby.

    Derbyshire Police said the games were taken from the Hallmark Hotel in Midland Road on Saturday 3 November.

    The centenary of the armistice may be over but work has just begun on a memorial, which will name everyone from Nottinghamshire, external who died during World War One.

    Councillors from the city and county attended this morning's ground breaking ceremony at Victoria Embankment in Nottingham.

    It will honour nearly 14,000 service personnel and civilians, and is thought to be the first tribute of its kind in the country.

    Nottingham hospitals will be introducing extended visiting times from Monday.

    The visiting hours at both the City and Queen's Medical Centre hospitals will be from 11:00 to 20:30.

    In addition to this if patients want to see a visitor outside of these times they can make arrangements with staff on their wards.

    The Hospitals' Trust says it has made the change as a result of feedback from patients and visitors.

    The University of Nottingham's student union has passed a motion to provide kits to test what's in recreational drugs.

    A spokesman said there remains a "zero-tolerance policy towards drugs on campus".

    "Of course, simply promoting abstinence does not always keep students safe - education on the dangers of drugs is equally important," he said.

    The Nottingham union isn't the first to do something like this - the University of Sheffield also publishes information on how to take drugs.

    Flowers have been left at the scene of a crash in Loughborough where a 12-year-old boy died.

    The child was hit by a car on Meadow Lane last night. He was taken to hospital but later died.

    A woman living nearby told the BBC: "It's just terrible".

    She said the road needs speed bumps to stop drivers "flying" over the bridge.

    Another person said: "There's been quite a few crashes here over the years where cars have come too fast over there [the bridge]."

    Two people have been taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary following a crash on the A6 near Rothley this afternoon.

    The two-vehicle crash happened just after 12:20 today between Rothley and Mountsorrel.

    One lane of the road remains closed following the crash.

    House of Fraser in Nottingham is to close next year, it's been confirmed.

    Intu Victoria Centre said it had failed to reach an agreement with the department store's new owner, Sports Direct, which is leading a review of its national portfolio of outlets.

    "While we cannot discuss the detail, we have been unable to reach an agreement."

    A Jeep ended up on its roof following a crash on the M1 in Leicestershire this morning.

    Leicestershire Police said it happened on the northbound carriageway near Ratby at about 10:45.

    Thankfully no-one was injured and no other vehicles were involved but it did lead to major delays.

    Five people were killed in a massive explosion which was started as part of a plot to make £300,000 from an insurance claim, a court has heard.

    The explosion, which happened shortly after 19:00 on Sunday 25 February on Leicester's Hinckley Road, destroyed a supermarket and the flat above it.

    It is alleged that shopkeeper Aram Kurd, Hawkar Hassan and Arkan Ali conspired together with Viktorija Ijevleva, who was herself killed in the explosion.

    The blast also killed Mary Ragoobeer, her sons Shane and Sean Ragoobeer, and Shane’s girlfriend Leah Reek.

    David Herbert QC, prosecuting, said the explosion, footage of which was shown to jurors, was “so massive that some in the neighbourhood thought that it was a bomb exploding".

    He said the blast was "caused by many, many litres of petrol" and was "part of a plan to profit from a false insurance claim for loss of stock, contents and future loss of business from the shop that was on the ground floor".

    He said the claim, if successful. would have been for around £300,000.

    Mr Herbert said the youngest of the family’s three boys, Scotty, survived after he was pulled from the rubble.

    The boys’ father also lived in the flat but was not there at the time of the explosion.

    Mr Kurd, Mr Hassan and Mr Ali deny murder, manslaughter, and conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

    The trial at Leicester Crown Court continues.

    The helicopter which crashed outside Leicester City's stadium killing five people did not respond to the pilot's command shortly after take-off, investigators said.

    In an interim report, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said the helicopter "entered an increasing right yaw contrary to the pilot's left pedal command".

    Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz all died when the helicopter crashed after a match on 27 October.

    The cause of the loss of control has "yet to be determined" but an investigation into the tail rotor system is being carried out as a priority, the AAIB said.

    Derbyshire Community Health Services has revealed halfway through the financial year that the current budget is still up in the air with the situation "worsening".

    Next year could be even tougher as it is being asked to plan for budget cuts of 5%.

    The trust has said it, along with other NHS providers, have given "robust feedback" to the commissioners, arguing a 5% budget cut is too risky.

    Rehab beds and specialist nursing for people with conditions like diabetes and Parkinson's are expected to be reviewed to see if savings can be made.

    Derbyshire's health commissioners have said: "We work very hard with providers to achieve the highest quality services while making the best use of available public money."
