Former Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker has been talking about how much a visit to a set of caves in the East Midlands has influenced his music.
Creswell Crags, on the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire border, were occupied during the last ice age between 43,000 and 10,000 years ago.
The musician told Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6 Music show that he took inspiration from the cave art while visiting the limestone caves with his son one school holiday 12 years ago.
He said the prehistoric art, which is believed to be the most northerly ever found, has stayed with him ever since.
"We went to this place, Creswell Crags, and I think it's got the UK's only surviving bit of cave art on the wall there, just a tiny little carving - it really had an effect on me seeing it," he said.
"I started thinking that at one point one of our ancestors would have lived in a cave and those first scratchings on a cave wall are the first kind of art."
Cocker, who was promoting his new group JARV IS's album Beyond the Pale released later this year, also told the presenter he excitedly purchased a book from the gift shop while he was there.
The singer, from Sheffield, is no stranger to East Midlands caves, having played a gig in the Devil's Arse in Castleton, Derbyshire, in 2018.

A Knife Angel statue, made up of 100,000 blades handed to UK police forces, is set to go on display in Leicester.

Clive Knowles, chairman of the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry, Shropshire - where it was made - said the sculpture was "controversial, but stunningly beautiful at the same time".
Since the Knife Angel's unveiling in 2017, it has been displayed in nine cities in a bid to raise awareness of knife crime.

An annual charity music festival which was set up to tackle homelessness in Nottingham has raised about £75,000.
Beat the Streets, held at venues across the city, was headlined by Nottingham musician Jake Bugg and took place on 26 January.
The money came from a combination of ticket sales, merchandise, tombola, collection buckets and cash spent at the bars.
The charity Framework said the money raised will be used to employ two mental health workers with the aim of offering "wrap around support to rough sleepers with complex needs".
Chief executive Andrew Redfern said: “Without Beat the Streets there would be many more people sleeping rough in Nottingham than we currently see and some of them would be dying.
“Each year the Nottingham Street Outreach Team finds nearly 800 people who are new to the streets."
Next year’s Beat the Streets will take place on 31 January.
