    Firefighters remain on the scene at a blaze at a waste disposal facility in Nottingham involving 200 tonnes of rubbish.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said they are using two main jets on the fire near Lady Bay Bridge and expect to be there for a “long time”.

    Plumes of smoke from the Veolia site on Freeth Street could be seen across the city.

    A man has admitted two counts of burglary following thefts from a Nottingham City Council building.

    Nottinghamshire Police said Jason Hare, 44, of Manvers Court, Nottingham, was caught on CCTV stealing two laptops and a pre-paid cash card from Loxley House, in July 2019.

    The force said he was also caught stealing from Boots, in Victoria Centre, on 1 July this year.

    He pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary, one count of theft and one count of fraud by false representation, at Nottingham Crown Court.

    Hare was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a crash after a man and a dog were reportedly hit by a car in Bingham.

    Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to Carnarvon Place at about 07:00 today after receiving a call over a collision.

    The man has been taken to hospital with injuries that aren't believed to be life-threatening, a force spokesman said, while the dog has been taken to a local vet for treatment.

    Insp Andy Wright said the car "may have been involved in other collisions prior to the crash involving the man and the dog", and asked for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

    Five people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Leicestershire, the fire service said.

    Two cars and a lorry were involved in the crash on the A50 east slip road near junction 24 of the M1, in Kegworth, just after 10:00 on Monday.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said two people were taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham by ambulance and three people were discharged at the roadside.

    It added two people trapped in the car on its side were freed by the fire service.

    Leicestershire Police said the injuries were not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

    A dog owner has said she is "devastated" after her 16-week-old puppy was stolen from her back garden in Nottinghamshire.

    Kelly Bannister said Milo, a male French Bulldog, was taken from behind a locked gate at her home in Newark between 09:30 and 10:00 on Thursday.

    The 32-year-old said she bought the puppy when he was seven weeks old after her father died in April.

    "Milo is my rock. He's helped me through losing my Dad," she said.

    Milo is microchipped and has a bald patch under his chin.

    Ms Bannister has offered a reward for the puppy's safe return.

    Leicestershire Police have closed the A47 in both directions from the Earl Shilton roundabout to Desford Road.

    Police investigating a suspicious package found at Intu Derby last month have released dozens of CCTV images, external of people they'd like to speak to.

    The shopping centre was evacuated on 21 August when the item was found in the men's toilets.

    A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, and was later released under investigation.
