    Ten ducklings have been freed from a storm drain by firefighters in Rutland.

    They managed to reach the birds using crowbars in Lands End Way in Oakham at about 14:30 on Sunday.

    Police patrols have been increased in Derby following the sudden death of a man.

    Derbyshire Police said the 29-year-old collapsed in Harvey Road, Alvaston, in the early hours of Sunday.

    Despite help from a passer-by and then ambulance staff, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

    Police said they were still investigating the full circumstances of the death and appealed for anyone with information to approach one of the patrolling officers.

    Two men who have been playing major roles in guiding Leicestershire through the coronavirus pandemic are to be awarded honorary degrees.

    Ivan Browne and Mike Sandys, Leicester and Leicestershire's directors of public health respectively, will be recognised by Loughborough University.

    A spokesman for the university said: "Since the start of the pandemic both have worked tirelessly to lead and guide the people and communities of Leicester and Leicestershire through one of the most challenging times in living memory."

    Both men said the award, which will be presented at the university's summer graduation ceremonies, was an "honour and privilege" but also emphasised they were part of wider teams.
