A man who caused a crash in which his son was fatally injured has been given a suspended sentence.
Craig Armstrong had his two sons in the car on 1 December 2018 when he cut a blind corner on Corkhill Lane, Kirklington, Nottinghamshire, police said.
He collided head on with another car, trapping 12-year-old Oliver inside.
The child had suffered a head injury and despite the efforts of emergency services, he died 10 days later.
Armstrong, 44, from Turnor Close, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, denied a charge of causing death by careless driving but was convicted at Nottingham Crown Court.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was also banned from driving for two years.

Targeted testing is to start at a Nottingham primary school after cases of the Covid-19 Indian variant were detected.
Nottingham City Council said they had been notified by Public Health England of the cases at Henry Whipple Primary in Bestwood which were connected to the "variant of concern".
Pupils and parents at the school will be tested from Monday until 21 May.
It follows testing in other parts of the city for the same variant which centered around large, shared accommodation blocks in the city centre this week.
Headteacher Cari Burgess said keeping children safe was their "highest priority".
She added: “The risk of ongoing transmission in the school is believed to be low, but, as a precautionary measure, PHE and the city council would like to identify if there has been any asymptomatic transmission of Covid-19 by asking our school community (parents, staff and pupils) to take a PCR Covid-19 test."
David Johns, interim director of public health in Nottingham said: “I should stress that no-one should be alarmed about this.
"Variants of concern are being identified around the country and are followed by routine targeted testing to help us to monitor their spread. There is no evidence that this variant poses any more risk to health."
