    Ambulance staff are to be offered support to help them deal with the traumatic events they have to deal with.

    The South Western Ambulance Service employs over 4,500 staff providing a range of emergency care on a 24-hour basis. 

    Clinical professionals, including specialist counsellors, will be available to offer support - it's hoped the 'Staying Well Service' will encourage staff to seek help before a crisis develops.

    A Cornish MP says she's confident a deal can be struck between the government and junior doctors after strike action was cancelled last night.

    The British Medical Association agreed to suspend the walk-out following a last-minute breakthrough in talks - two more strikes planned for later in December have also been suspended.

    The MP for Truro and Falmouth Sarah Newton told me: "I think now, finally, the end of the process is in sight, they're talking about details now."

    A garage in North Devon which has been allowed to sell fuel at a 5p discount for the last six months has seen sales increase by around a third.

    The EX35 postcode area - which has just one petrol station at Barbrook near Lynmouth - is the only place in the whole of mainland southern England to be part of the government's Rural Fuel Rebate Scheme.

    It's meant to make fuel more affordable in sparsely populated areas.

  11. Early Christmas parking present in east Devonpublished at 09:43

    A parking charge of £2 a day is being introduced in East Devon District Council car parks for three months. 

    It comes into effect in all 39 pay and display car parks today at 10:00 - it's to boost trade over Christmas and the New Year.

    - The Torpoint Ferry is running normally again after being suspended to allow a submarine movement, traffic is moving smoothly on the Tamar Bridge and on surrounding routes in Plymouth.

    - There is slow traffic on the A390 eastbound in Chiverton Cross near Chiverton Cross Roundabout, because of an accident.

    - The A392 in Newquay is partially blocked at the Pentire Road junction, because of an accident involving a car and a bus and recovery work.

    - Watch out for an accident on the B3254 in Pensilva near the Higher Road junction.

    - There has been a collision on the A3124 in Sampford Courtenay near the A3072 junction in mid Devon.

    - Beware slow traffic on the A377 Alphington Road in Exeter near the Seven Stars traffic lights, because of an accident.

    - An accident is reported on the A381 Main Road in Salcombe near the Beadon Road junction.

  18. Torpoint Ferry suspended for submarine movepublished at 08:26

    Queues are building around the Tamar Bridge after all sailings of the Torpoint Ferry were suspended to allow a submarine to leave the port.

    The Ferry is expected to start operating again at 08:55 - an emergency blue light service may be possible, but this will depend on shipping movements at the time and will require clearance from the Queen’s Harbour Master.
