    Councillors in Torridge, external are debating whether to resettle Syrian refugees, as part of a voluntary government scheme to accept 20,000 people from the war-torn country.

    A report has highlighted local support for signing up to the scheme but it also shows there is concern from some people that urban communities are more suitable than the rural areas of Torridge.

    Plymouth City Council has already said it will help house 28 families and across the Devon County Council area, local authorities have pledged to resettle 23 families, mostly in Exeter.

    The full line-up has been revealed for this year's Radio 1 Big Weekend at Powderham Castle in Exeter.

    The acts on Saturday 28 May include Nick Jonas, Mumford and Sons, Jake Bugg and Meghan Trainor, while Coldplay, One Republic, Ellie Goulding and The 1975 will perform on Sunday 29 May.

    Cornwall beach bar The Watering Hole has apologised, external after fans complained that X Factor runner-ups Reggie N Bollie only appeared for about 15 minutes.

    "We are absolutely devastated and extremely disappointed," said the Perranporth venue, offering free tickets for future events as a "goodwill gesture".

    "What you as fans who have supported this act all the way through their X factor campaign received was 15 minutes and a very quick exit out the door which is completely unacceptable.

    "I can happily say that they will not be back here again."

    More than 100 probation jobs are being cut in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset, a union has warned.

    The National Association of Probation Officers (Napo) says contractor Working Links has said 40% of jobs in the counties will go.

    Working Links won the contract for the counties in the part-privatisation of the probation service in 2014 . The firm said it was still in consultation but it expected "fewer jobs being lost than those stated".

    There are fears massive debts could lead to big cuts to front-line health services in Cornwall.

    NHS Kernow admits it is facing a deficit of £57m by the end of the financial year, which it has to tackle.

    NHS Kernow is the county's clinical commissioning group and is responsible for "buying" a range of health services, including hospital care, GP out-of-hours, mental health services and care in the community.

    Firefighters rescued four people trapped in a flat above a pub after reports of an explosion on Sunday in Launceston.

    Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the alarm was raised just before 17:00.

    The brigade said the cause of the explosion is not yet known, but no one is believed to have been seriously hurt.
