    A 25m (82ft) bridge will be built over a main road for the next phase of a cycle, walking and horse-riding trail in Devon.

    The bridge will replace the former railway crossing over the A382 at Steward Wood and work starts next week on that, along with another 600m (1,970ft) of trail.

    The Wray Valley Trail , externallinks Moretonhampstead to Bovey Tracey and follows the old Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead railway line with the aim of eventually linking Dartmoor to the sea via other trails to Torbay and Teignmouth.

    Health chiefs say they expect NHS 111 to improve after a damning report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found patients requiring emergency care in the South West were left waiting for long periods.

    A Department of Health spokesperson said: "Anything that risks patient safety is unacceptable. Both patients and staff deserve better, so we expect the trust to make immediate progress.

    "NHS Improvement is already providing intensive support to the trust to dramatically turn around its 111 service. To ensure patients get a more effective response from 111, clinicians across the country are increasingly able to access patients' medical records, and we will be setting out further changes in due course."

    The A379 at Blackpool Hill in Stoke Fleming is closed after a crash between a cyclist and a car.

    There's slow traffic in both directions near Blackpool Sands, and the man, who is in a critical condition, is being treated in hospital.

    • Through Halsetown we've had reports of an accident on the B3311 near the Halsetown Inn

    • On the A30 between Temple and Millpool there are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 40 mph due to roadworks, slow eastbound

    A total of 43 people in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset have been ordered to surrender their passport until the Euro 2016 competition is over.

    Officers are on standby at all local ports to prevent anybody with a football banning order from travelling.

    Meanwhile, football fans are being warned to drink responsibly. Supt Ian Drummond-Smith said: "We want to remind people that alcohol is not an excuse and we will be taking a robust stance in dealing with any perpetrators of violent crime and domestic abuse."

    The A379 is blocked because of flooding between Kiln Lane Stokenham and Fairfield Way Chillington.

    Traffic is queuing in both directions between the Kiln Lane junction and the Fairfield Way junction and motorists are being warned to approach with care.

    Thirteen school students from Helston have made a marathon overnight pilgrimage to London in the name of art.

    The group joined a total of 3,000 others from around the country to celebrate the new extension at the Tate Modern before it opens to the public., external

    The gallery is one of the UK's top three tourist attractions and has been visited by a total of 40m people but today has been a bit different with the school parties getting exclusive access.

    The woman driving the car was uninjured. Police are appealing for witnesses.

    The 18-year-old victim from Newton Abbot was headbutted on a night out with friends in what police believe was an unprovoked attack.

    The victim suffered facial injuries as a result of the attack in Park Lane at 22:00 on 3 April.
