The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust remains on the highest level of alert - "black" status - when hospital services are unable to cope with demand.
The status was declared on Friday. The trust chief executive said there were "pressures on all parts of the system" and there were not enough hospital beds to cope with the number of people arriving for treatment.
Kathy Byrne said there the trust could "only admit" people who needed "critical care". An update on the situation is expected later.

A giant mechanical puppet - The Man Engine, external - is beginning a 130-mile journey across Devon and Cornwall after being unveiled in front of hundreds of people in Tavistock.
The puppet - which is more than 10m tall - marks the 10th anniversary of Cornish Mining World Heritage status being granted by Unesco.
The project, which has been shrouded in secrecy, will be on show at 20 locations as part of a two-week journey which finishes at Geevor Tin Mine. Organisers said they hoped the project would remind people of Cornwall and West Devon's rich mining story.
You can see the unveiling live on Periscope, external.

A multi-million pound waste to energy incinerator in Cornwall is being fired up for its first test burn this week.
It's estimated the plant in St Dennis, which costs about £150m, will be fully operational by the end of the year.
Some residents in the surrounding areas have campaigned against the incinerator, saying it would damage people's health and the environment. Cornwall Council said it would be properly monitored by operator Suez and the Environment Agency.

Coins from one of the UK's largest Roman hoards are to go on display in Exeter this week.
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum in the city bought the Seaton Down Hoard, discovered in 2013, for £50,000.
The coins were found in a field in east Devon by builder Laurence Egerton, who was using a metal detector.
Work has started to restore the collection of almost 23,000 coins, dating back to about AD350, so only some of them will be on show. It is believed the hoard was buried by a private individual or soldier for safe-keeping.

Three people have been injured in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Cornwall, police say.

One man was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew for minor bruising of the arms and legs. The other two were left shaken but unhurt. Police have appealed for witnesses.

A police investigation into a school for deaf children in Devon followed claims from a whistle-blower of drinking by staff on residential trips, allowing children and young people to misbehave and engage in sexual activity, the BBC has learnt.
There are also allegations students at Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education were manhandled by staff.
The academy said: "We continue to cooperate fully with the investigation. We care deeply about the welfare of our students, and will act quickly if it is found that any improvements need to be made."
The BBC was told earlier this month that police and social services staff were involved in an inquiry at the school after concerns about the care of young people were reported.
