The A39 between Devoran and the Treluswell Roundabout (at Four Cross) is closed due to a fallen tree south of Perranarworthal, affecting traffic between Falmouth and Truro.
The tree is blocking the carriageway near Frog Hill, near the Cosawes turning.
Police are on the scene directing traffic. Highways officials are also in attendance. Drivers are advised to find an alternate route as traffic is already building up at both ends of the closure.
Dozens of parents in Devon are asking for their term-time holiday fines to be refunded.
It comes after the High Court ruled a father from the Isle of Wight should be let off his charge because his daughter attended school regularly. The High Court ruled in May Jon Platt (pictured) did not have to pay a £120 fine to Isle of Wight Council after he took his daughter to Florida in term-time. The council is planning to challenge that ruling.
Plymouth City Council said it would no longer penalise for holiday absences, but 34 families have contacted it asking for their money back. Devon County Council has had 17. Both are refusing to issue refunds.
