Plymouth Argyle chairman James Brent said manager Derek Adams had "made a major contribution to Plymouth Argyle and the board believes he has much more to offer".

He said: "Much of what football clubs do is focus on the current season and yet, to achieve sustainable success, we believe that plans need to be implemented for the medium-term, as well."
A team from the South West has scooped a total of 25 medals at this year's British Transplant Games, external - that's five more gold medals than last year.
The 15 gold, six silver and four bronze medals were won by the seven competitors aged between 35 and 70. They have all received a life-saving kidney transplant at Derriford Hospital.

Colin Taylor is on duty as the Isles of Scilly police sergeant for the last time today.
He told BBC News: "I'll be a detective sergeant investigating child exploitation in Devon. A very different role.
"I am not planning to blog about it. I'm moving back to my family home near Exeter with my wife and two teenage children.
"I am 50 in a months time and have been a police officer for 21 years this month. In total I will have served seven years of those 21 on Scilly. It has been a truly remarkable and unique privilege to serve the community on Scilly for so long. I am looking forward to returning in a completely off duty capacity in due course."

An expert in Native American history has urged the Exeter Chiefs to sit down with Native American groups so they can "explain why the name is so offensive".

"I would at least like to see an engaged discussion between the team and Native American groups that could better explain why the name might be offensive." She called out the team, which rebranded as the Chiefs in 1999, for their use of Native American imagery. She said it evokes "Britain's forgotten imperial American past". A spokesman for the club said they had no comment to make on the claims or the name change call.

The A30 is closed in both directions in Cornwall between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross because of a 'serious incident' according to Highways England, external.
Diversions are in place and there are reportedly long delays in the area.
The Council of the Isles of Scilly has agreed to adopt a Public Spaces Protection order to place controls on dogs in certain areas, according to ThisisScilly.com, external
The council has introduced permanent exclusion areas and ordered dogs to be kept on leads in designated streets.

Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez says everyone has to be vigilant after last night's knife attack in central London in which an American woman was stabbed to death.

"Our 101 numbers has improved dramatically if people want to report intelligence."
An extra 40 armed response officers are being trained in Devon and Cornwall and the use of Tasers is being extended, she added.
Western Power Distribution (WPD) owns and operates a fleet of five helicopters from Bristol Airport.

Coastguards in Cornwall have helped co-ordinate lifeguard rescues at Godrevy and Bude after swimmers got caught into dangerous rips.
The sea conditions on the north coast particularly are reported to be strong with rescue teams reminding people to use lifeguarded areas and check the conditions before entering the water.
