    Truro City manager Lee Hodges says the National League South club can develop their younger talent for the future.

    Forty-two-year-old Hodges was re-appointed as Truro boss in June, with his former Plymouth Argyle team-mate, Rory Fallon, joining the club as his assistant manager.

    "I've brought in some young lads. They aren't ready for 90 minutes; but we're looking towards the future, not now," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

    A new organisation running libraries in the Devon county area could soon take over Torbay's service. 

    Since April, a charity called Libraries Unlimited has been running Devon's 50 libraries.

    It's now expressed an interest in taking on services in Torquay, Brixham, Churston and Paignton. A formal tender and bid process has yet to take place. Torbay Council has to save £19m by 2020.

    Tom Daley, who is launching his third Olympic campaign, admits to still feeling the jitters ahead of taking the plunge at high-profile competitions, but added he was feeling comfortable.

    The 22-year-old is diving with Dan Goodfellow in the 10m synchronised event on Monday evening and his own individual 10m platform event begins on 19 August.

    He said: "Every time you're up on 10m, it's not exactly like a walk in the park. You have to be a little bit scared and have a little bit of an adrenaline rush, but at the same time I do feel I'm at my most comfortable right now, yes."

    Around the River Dart in Totnes in Devon is again an idyllic sport for wildlife and walkers. Just a few floral tributes to Nathan Wood left at various different points mark that anything has happened here.

    Nathan was last seen near the Dart on Friday evening in a "distressed state", police said. A body was found on Sunday by police searching the river for the missing 16-year-old. It was feared he had fallen into the river after taking a so-called "new psychoactive substance" (NPS), officers said.

    Police have told me that a post-mortem examination still needs to be carried out, so it won't be known for several days if drugs did have any part to play. His family are being kept informed of developments. They have not released any statements yet.

    Two men tried to rob a Plymouth shop at knife-point, police say, external.

    The pair tried to hold up CJ Brown’s newsagent in Thurlestone Walk, Leigham, at about 09:45 on Sunday, threatening a female shop worker with a kitchen knife. They ran off when an alarm was sounded. The staff member was "not harmed but was left very shaken", police said. 

    Officers have appealed for witnesses and released CCTV pictures of the pair.

    Tom Daley launches his third Olympic campaign later and is hoping for rain.

    The London 2012 bronze medallist is diving with Dan Goodfellow in the 10m synchronised event at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre - an open air arena - and Daley said he would be happy if the heavens opened on Monday afternoon.

    He said: "I am ready for any kind of weather. We have trained in rain, trained in wind, cloud, sun, you name it. For me, I prefer it to be a little bit cloudy because it's not as bright and you can open your eyes a bit more, rather than squinting all the time. To be honest, I would quite like it to rain and a lot of people don't like the rain. I am ready for it. I am British and used to the rain."

    The creator of the 10m-tall Man Engine puppet saved one of the biggest surprises of his work to last as it made its final appearance during a two-week tour of Devon and Cornwall - he proposed to his partner under its shadow.

    After the final ceremony at Geevor on Saturday, creator Will Coleman lured his partner of six years, Dominique Trevail, on to the top of a support vehicle, telling her she would get a personal wink from her 40-tonne heartthrob.

    He then went down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage, presenting her with an large metal washer from the puppet itself as an engagement ring.

    Dominique said: "I am so immensely proud of Will and what he has achieved for the people of Cornwall. First I called him every name under the sun for proposing in front of thousands of people... but I did eventually say yes."

  18. More doctors at minor injury unit 'to make up for walk-in health centre closure'published at 14:44

    The NHS says more doctors will be on duty during the evening and at weekends at the Camborne/Redruth hospital's minor injury unit to make up for the closure from tomorrow evening of the Cardrew walk-in health centre.

    Critics have raised concerns about medical cover in the area as a result of the closure.
