    A replica Spitfire aircraft brought down on the A30 and A38 in Devon earlier today "will be the star of the show" at a 1940s themed weekend at RAF Harrowbeer on Dartmoor.

    The festival is being held to celebrate 75 years of the airfield.

    Steven Fryer, who is a member of the team that has restored part of the airfield to its original state, says "it's absolutely awesome".

    "I have actually sat in the Spitfire and started her up. To press that button and hear that 27 litre Merlin engine roaring to life."

    Except, he says, for the two bodyguards "within a metre" of the Prime Minister "the whole time".

    She has not been seen since 4 August. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    Criminals heading to the Boardmasters Festival in Newquay are being targeted by police as part of Operation Allied Wolf.

    So far 15 cars have been seized for having no insurance and 15 drivers stopped for using a mobile behind the wheel by officers from Devon and Cornwall and Dorset.

    A drugs dog helped officers secure a number of minor drug seizures while a double decker bus was held by police because its doors would not close properly.

    The volunteer team at Torbay RNLI lifeboat station is welcoming their new inshore lifeboat into the fleet this afternoon at a special naming ceremony.

    The formal ceremony and service of dedication also mark Torbay RNLI's 150th year.

    The boat has been in service since October 2015 but has not been given a name yet.  

    Operations Manager Nick O'Brien says "We are going to be naming her on Friday evening... she is a very effective life saving tool. We are very happy to have her on service here."

    A man and woman who were taken to hospital with minor injuries on Thursday after their plane crash-landed at Perranporth Airfield managed to "jump clear" of the light aircraft before it burst into flames.

    Fire crews from Wadebridge doused the plane with foam but it was seriously burned out.

    The couple released themselves from the Piper Warrior and were treated at the scene before being sent to hospital as a precaution for possible head injuries.

    A dairy farmer who took part in a protest on Thursday evening over the payment farmers are getting for milk says they are "absolutely fed up".

    Dairy farmers from the south west gathered near the M5 before driving in convoy to Bridgwater to blockade the Muller-Wiseman plant. The dairy says it has a "good track record" of offering "competitive prices".

    But James Hole from Farmers for Action says that is not the case, with some farmers saying they cannot see themselves producing milk "in the coming months; possibly not even by Christmas".

    A former teacher from Plymouth who taught at a school in Fife run by the Christian Brothers order has been jailed for 10 years after being convicted of the physical and sexual abuse of pupils.

    64 year-old Paul Kelly committed the offences at the former St Ninian's school in Falkland.

    Former headmaster John Farrell, 73, who lives in Motherwell, was also convicted of sexual and physical abuse of boys at the school and was jailed for 5 years.

    They were convicted last month after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

    Longboard surfer Ben Skinner won the heats at Boardmasters , externalon Thursday and will go on to compete against fellow UK surfer Adam Griffiths.
