    A planning academic at Plymouth University who lives in Totnes says residents have voted in large numbers against the development of the town's 14th century market because of "clumsy information" they have been given.

    More than 1,300 people have signed a petition, external against the plans.

    Professor Chris Balch says "I think the response is as a result of really clumsy information used by South Hams (District Council), which I think is an out-of-date picture of the development site in and around the centre of Totnes.

    "I fully understand how people have reacted but I think it's based somewhat on poor information."

    Head of road policing, Insp Adrian Leisk, said officers had detected more than 100 motoring offences in two shifts.

    Dairy farmers from across the south west staged a protest last night over the amount they are being paid for milk. 

    They gathered near the M5 before driving in convoy to Bridgwater to blockade the Muller-Wiseman plant.

    The dairy says it has "a good track record" of offering competitive prices - but the protestors claim that is not the case.

    If you are travelling on the A30 and A38 this morning you may see a rather unusual vehicle on the road.

    A replica Spitfire is on its way to RAF Harrowbeer near Yelverton, for the 1940s themed weekend, celebrating 75 years of the airfield. 

    It will be joined by the last surviving replica Hawker Hurricane from the 1969 film Battle of Britain.

    A light aircraft was completely destroyed by fire at Perranporth airfield on Thursday evening.

    Fire crews were called to the scene just before 5.30pm and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
