Stonehouse in Plymouth could be getting its first allotments thanks to a transfer of city council-owned land to the community.
A patch of unused land on the side of Stonehouse Creek could be turned into a community garden, with allotments, possibly a small orchard with wild flowers and a herb garden.
The council said it was authorising the transfer of the land on a 125-year lease to the Millfields Community Economic Development Trust.

The amount of water in hydraulic fluid in the front brakes of a coach which crashed, killing two passengers, had a "gross level of contamination", a court has heard.
Fifty-nine-year-old Margaret Luxton and Carol Muldoon, 68, died when their coach crashed on a steep hill at Morval on 13 May 2014.
Collision investigator Marcus Rowe told a jury at Truro Crown Court there was 12% water in the fluid. But vehicle examiner Alan Maxwell later told the court that extensive tests showed the brakes were operating perfectly satisfactorily from a temperature point of view.
Martin Chun, 59, of Whitestone, near Exeter, denies causing death by dangerous driving, or death by careless driving, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The trial continues.

Abuse dished out to politicians on social media has got worse since the death of MP Jo Cox, according to former cabinet minister and Labour Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw.
The former culture secretary said he believed people now felt it was "socially acceptable" to use Facebook and Twitter to abuse politicians and he hoped the death of Mrs Cox would lead to a "deeper reflection" about the political culture in the UK.
The sentencing of a man who admitted leaving a death threat on Mr Bradshaw's answerphone has been adjourned. Geoffrey Farquharson, 37, from Exeter, previously admitted leaving a "message of venom" at Mr Bradshaw's Westminster office, ending with the words "I will kill you". It happened a day before Mrs Cox died.
High diver has 20m-high platform built at quarry to practice
A teenage high diver from Plymouth has had a new 20m platform built for him at a quarry in Cornwall so he can practise.
Seventeen-year-old Owen Weymouth has dived from cliffs and structures up to 27m high during 11 years of diving . Earlier this year he became the youngest European cliff diving champion at a height of 20m.
He had been training at the city's Life Centre because there were no safe or suitable cliffs nearby. But special diving platforms have been built at Adrenalin Quarry in Cornwall so he can dive outside. He has to abseil down the cliff just to get to them.

The funeral has been held for former Royal Marine, Duncan Potts, who died in a climbing accident in the French Alps.
Mr Potts, 28, from Coldridge near Crediton in Devon, died climbing in the Mont Blanc range near Chamonix in July.
The service was held at Holy Cross church in Crediton before a private burial.
Mr Potts had served in the Royal Marines, where he was a mountain leader, for 11 years and left in April.
A motorcyclist is being sought by police after reports of dangerous driving and an assault on the A38 near Saltash.
Officers said, external two motorcycles were "believed to have been driving dangerously on the approach" to Trerulefoot roundabout, heading west, at about 14:00 on Sunday 7 August.
This led to a row between a car driver and one of the riders at Route 38 restaurant "where a man in his 60s was assaulted and suffered bruising and cuts to his face", police said. Officers have appealed for witnesses.

Police are still hunting for the body of a 38-year-old woman in Exeter after a man appeared in court charged with her murder.
Kostadin Kostov, 42, is alleged to have killed his former partner, Gergana Prodanova between 4-10 August. She has been missing in Exeter for more than a week.
Mr Kostov, of Mount Pleasant Road, was remanded in custody earlier today after an appearance at Exeter Crown Court.

Cornwall Council's Environmental Health team has issued a warning following reports businesses have been contacted by someone pretending to be from the authority.
The team said callers told firms in St Ives and Kelly Bray that they needed to check electrical wiring and see gas and electric safety certificates.
Malcolm Ball, from the team, said: "We are asking businesses to be wary of people contacting you, or turning up out of the blue, purporting to be from Cornwall Council. Always ask for formal identification."

A Roman coin hoard will stay in Devon because of a number of donations and grants made towards a museum's £50,000 purchase of the hoard, a council says.
Image source, Devon County CouncilThe Royal Albert Memorial Museum in the Exeter bought the Seaton Down Hoard, discovered in a field in east Devon in 2013, for £50,000. The collection of almost 23,000 coins, with some dating back to about AD350, is believed to have been buried by a private individual or soldier for safe-keeping.
Devon County Council said, external the purchase and conservation of the hoard was made possible by contributions from it, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Clinton Devon Estates, a private donation by Patrick Long, and members of the public.
A new display is being created for the entire hoard for 2017.

Cornwall Trading Standards team is advising charity shops how to make sure electrical products they sell are safe.
It comes after tests showed one in 10 items in some shops failed to meet safety standards. The majority of such unsafe products seized during visits by inspectors had faulty or damaged wiring and unsafe plugs.
The team said all second-hand goods sellers were responsible for ensuring they met legal safety requirements, and may also be liable to pay compensation if they sold unsafe goods.
More than £120,000 has been raised to replace a skatepark in Devon, councils say.
Teignbridge and Newton Abbot's councils said they had teamed up with local organisations to find the money to build a new facility in Buckland.
The councils say they hope the park will open in summer 2017, and will be for people of all ages and abilities who use skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters and inline skates.

A former Torbay MP says he "absolutely delighted" an agreement between Torbay Council and developers over Oldway Mansion has collapsed.
The building has been standing empty for more than three years despite a contract between developer Oldway Mansion Ltd (OML) and Torbay Council to turn it into a hotel. OML had been suing the council for £8m in a row over leases, seeking damages and costs. They announced on Monday they had "put differences aside" and terminated the agreement.
Ex-MP Adrian Sanders, who is now a Liberal Democrat councillor on the Conservative-led council, said: "I'm absolutely delighted we have an opportunity to move things forward after many years of uncertainty".
