    A Cornish housing company has apologised after a Launceston couple complained of health problems from extensive damp in the place they've been living in for nine months.

    The penetrating damp in the sheltered flat run by Sanctuary housing has been identified as a Category 1 health hazard.

    The couple, both in their 60s, have now been offered alternative accommodation.

    Cornish damp expert Stephen Richford said he would also like to see people given help on how to reduce moisture in their homes.

    The Jubilee Pool in Penzance will be marking the end of summer with a triathlon this weekend.

    A 60-year-old man from Topsham has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

    Andrew Richard Barnes, from Altamira, is accused of attempting to murder a 29-year-old man on Monday night.

    He appeared via video link at Exeter Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.

    Mr Barnes did not apply for bail.

    Seal pups risk being abandoned by their mother if people push them back into the sea during pupping season, a marine rescue group warns.

    British Divers Marine Life Rescue said it is normal for pups to remain on dry land to conserve energy.

    Dave Jarvis, from the group, said: "If it gets an alien smell from a dog or a human or something else touching it then the smell changes and the mother will then reject it and the pup has been abandoned."

    Police say a 74-year-old reported missing from Torquay, external has been found "safe and well".

    John Hine, who has Alzheimer's, had been last seen in Frobisher Green walking his dog - a springer spaniel - and it was thought he may have sought shelter from the damp weather.

    A Torbay Hospital nurse has celebrated her 83rd birthday, making her one of the oldest nurses in Britain.

    Monica Bulman, a Registered General Nurse (RGN), works on Hutchings ward at Torbay Hospital as part of the specialist outpatient surgical clinic team for endoscopy.

    She has worked for the NHS for 64 years - starting aged 19 in 1952  - and has no plans to retire.
