    A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the back in a supermarket car park in Devon, police say.

    Officers were called to the Co-op car park, off Station Road in Broadclyst, near Exeter, at about 23:00 on Tuesday.

    Police said a 39-year-old man was injured with a bladed article and taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. An investigation is under way.

    Rainwater has been filmed pouring through the roof of a Tesco store in Cornwall.

    Flash floods were caused in parts of Cornwall after lightning and heavy rain hit the county.

    An antelope which escaped from Paignton Zoo has been put down, staff have confirmed.

    The lechwe antelope was tranquillised when it was contained in nearby Brantwood Drive after it escaped from its enclosure at about 08:30.

    The zoo said: "The escape was triggered by fighting between the males in the lechwe herd. Following a full assessment, we have decided to put the animal to sleep as it would have been impossible to return the escapee to the herd, or find a suitable new home for him."

    The lechwe antelope was tranquillised by zoo staff after it escaped from its enclosure at about 08:30. It's not known how it got out.

    The animal was contained in a garden in Brantwood Drive.

    A Devon council has criticised a consultation by local health bosses on bed closures at four community hospitals.

    The South Devon and Torbay Clinicial Commissiong Group (CCG) announced earlier this month that it wanted to care for people in the community instead of at Ashburton, Bovey Tracey, Dartmouth and Paignton (pictured) hospitals. 

    A feedback questionnaire is online until the end of November, but Buckfastleigh Town Council criticised it, saying it was manipulative and asked leading questions. 

    The CCG said that, as well as asking specific questions, people had the opportunity to give their views in their own words or to make alternative proposals.

    Angry creditors of Bolitho School in Penzance say they are to demand answers about its abrupt closure at a meeting at the school later.

    The public school, which has struggled for years with falling number of students, shut last month. Early in August teachers, parents and students were told Bolitho wouldn't be opening this term. Its owners blamed a lack of pupils. 

    Creditors said they wanted to know why they weren't given notice of the closure.

    Andrew Neal came closest to breaking the deadlock when his first-half effort was deflected over the bar, while he also had a goal disallowed after Niall Thompson failed to keep the ball in play in the build-up.

    The result lifted Truro up one place to 16th in the table, five points above the relegation zone.

    The government is pushing ahead with parliamentary boundary changes to cut the number of MPs from 650 to 600 to ensure constituencies have equal population numbers.

    They include a constituency which will include a so-called "Devonwall" seat, which would encompass Bideford, Bude and Launceston.

    Have you been affected by last night's torrential downpours

    In parts up to 2in of rain fell in a very short space of time and lightning caused damage. Some businesses have been wrecked, homes damaged and possessions lost.

    There are calls for discreet CCTV cameras to be installed on Dartmoor to help prevent fly-tipping.

    Nearly 50 bags of household waste were dumped along the Meavy to Cadover Bridge road earlier this month.

    Burrator parish councillor Keith Scrivener said this was the third serious incident on this stretch of road in the last couple of years, and cameras could make all the difference.

    People should avoid going into floodwater caused by heavy rainfall for up to two days because of the risk of pollutants, environmental group Surfers Against Sewage says.

    Andy Cummings from the organisation said many beaches could be contaminated and people should avoid the sea and streams for between 24-48 hours.

    Exeter City have signed former Plymouth Argyle top scorer Reuben Reid.

    The 28-year-old was a free agent after leaving Exeter's biggest rivals at the end of his contract in the summer.

    He scored a hat-trick against Exeter in the Devon derby in 2015 - the first in the fixture since 1929 - and could make his debut for the Grecians against Argyle in League Two on Saturday.
