    Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Plymouth yesterday which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

    A Corsa was travelling along Poole Park Road and the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction when the crash happened at the junction with Roberts Road at about 16:50.

    The motorcyclist, a 26-year-old man from Plymouth, suffered "potentially life-changing injuries"  and was taken to Derriford Hospital, said police.

    Poole Park Road was closed for four hours for police to carry out an examination of the scene.

    A legal wrangle over a bid to clamp down on second homes in St Ives reaches a court in Bristol today.

    It follows a referendum in May when residents voted to ban the sale of newly built houses to anyone who isn't going to live in the town full-time. 

    A firm of Penzance architects is challenging Cornwall Council's decision to allow the referendum in the first place. 

    A High Court hearing on whether there should be a judicial review will take place at the Civil Justice Centre in Bristol today - and if this is granted the review will take place immediately.

    Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly still lag behind most of the country when it comes to diagnosing dementia, the NHS has revealed.

    However, this is despite NHS Digital showing nearly 5,000 over 65s in this county have been told they have the disease by their GPs - which is a record number.

    Dr Alison Flanagan from NHS Kernow, which commissions health services here, says lost ground is being rapidly made up.  

    "There's a huge amount of very good work that's going on in Cornwall and that's increased the rates of people on the dementia register by about another 1,200."

    Councillors have given the green light for a £6.2m redevelopment of Exeter's bus station site.

    A special planning committee met last night to discuss and vote on the finer details of the proposals.

    They also backed a £26m leisure complex with a 25m pool, but campaigners wanted a 50m pool.

    Work is now due to begin on the site next spring and is due to be finished in winter 2018. Both of these schemes are being funded by the city council.
