    The discovery of a part of a human foot in woods near Truro is being investigating by police, officers have confirmed.

    Devon and Cornwall Police said a walking boot containing the remains was located by a dog walker in Nansavallan Woods at about 17:00 last Thursday

    The owner has not been formally identified but the mother of local missing person, Lee Gilbert, has been advised and officers are offering her support whilst enquiries continue, officers said.

    A woman who was seriously injured when she was knocked off her tandem during a charity ride though Devon is calling for helmets to be compulsory for all cyclists.

    Still affected by the injuries in the crash three months ago, Lisa Bennett, from Somerset, says her helmet saved her life. 

    Devon and Cornwall Police figures show 20% more cyclists were injured in Devon crashes last year, compared to six years ago.

    Up to 70 child migrants from the Jungle camp in Calais are expected to arrive at a temporary Home Office "respite facility" in Devon, the BBC has learnt.

    The group was due to be brought to a hostel in the countryside near Great Torrington on Sunday or Monday. The Home Office said they were unaccompanied, vulnerable children.

    The purpose of the temporary facility is to provide a safe and welcoming place before the children are reunited with family members or moved to other parts of the country, Devon Country Council said.

    Meanwhile, more than 1,200 police and officials in France have begun an operation to clear the migrant camp in Calais (pictured).
