    Quote Message

Most of us have got used to the mild temperatures but we can't be complacent, particularly at this time of year. It's worth bearing in mind that there may be hoar frost on some of the county's roads overnight and tomorrow morning and it may be colder this coming weekend, so I would appeal for everyone to take extra care."

The council has given out the following advice:

    • Avoid overnight travel unless absolutely essential
    • Never assume a road has been salted
    • Showers or rain can wash salt off roads, and in extreme cold even salting will not stop ice forming
    • Allow additional time for your journey and reduce your speed
    • Drive with care and according to the conditions
    • If you have vulnerable or elderly neighbours, think about how you help them
    • Listen to local radio for updates on current weather conditions

It follows the recent resignation of the charity's patron and more than 100 volunteer musicians from the community choir and orchestra set up to raise funds for the project.

A commission spokesman said: "A trustee can also act as a chief executive in certain circumstances, although we expect that a charity would only appoint an employee to a trustee body where the trustees are satisfied that this is in the best interests of the charity.
