    Green-minded recyclers are facing massive cuts to the amount they get for composting waste.

    Devon County Council is planning to slash the amount paid to to community compost schemes from £49-£59 a tonne to £25 a tonne "in line with the national average".

    Councillor Roger Croad, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "We of course want to continue to support community groups but it is hard to justify continuing to pay a higher rate to community groups when the council could manage this waste more cheaply."

    Exeter City forward Joel Grant is hoping his recent good form will lead to a recall by Jamaica.

    Grant, 29, was left out of the squad which lost their final two World Cup qualifiers in September, having scored in the win over Chile in May and been part of the 2016 Copa America squad.

    But he has scored in his last two games as Exeter's form has turned around with three wins from four.

    "If my performances are good, I'm sure I'll be in," Grant told BBC Sport.

    Council tax bills across Cornwall are set to go up again next year, as the authority continues to make savings.

    A Band D household would be paying about £1.04 a week more in its draft budget - which involves making cuts of £34m.

    Not many areas of spending are untouched - and £3.5m of savings are earmarked by offloading leisure centres.

    It's also predicted there'll be 292 further job losses by 2020.

    A company has been fined £30,000 following the deaths of a shanty group singer and the band's promoter after a two-tonne steel door fell on them.

    The stage door collapsed on Fisherman's Friends vocalist Trevor Grills and Paul McMullen at Guildford's G Live venue in 2013.

    Shropshire-based Express Hi-Fold Doors Ltd was found guilty of a health and safety breach at Guildford Crown Court.

    Director David Naylor, 57, was cleared of manslaughter by gross negligence.

    Chief Petty Officers Craig Parker, Scott Yeardley, Matthew Bradley and Warrant Officer Jimmy Dyke and Able Seaman Aidan Madden and Leading Seaman Matty Mead are aiming to cover the 248 miles in less than 23 hours.

    They are raising funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) which supported the family of former colleague Lieutenant Joseph Wright, 26, who died in January from natural causes after collapsing while out jogging in Faslane Naval Base, Scotland.

    Royal Netherlands Navy aircraft train in the South West twice a year. 

    The three NH 90 Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) helicopters are from 7 (NL) and 860 (NL) Sqns based at Naval Air Station De Kooy in the Netherlands.

    A college in south east Cornwall has had to close early today because of emergency gas supply works.

    Torpoint College describes it as unforeseen work switching off the main gas supply affecting their ability to run the building's heating and food prep. 

    Managers are stressing there's no gas leak, no one is in danger and updates for students and their families are being posted on social media.

    The Great Big Rhino Project has come to an end with a charity auction that raised £123,000.

    The summer-long project, organised by Paignton Zoo, saw a free public art trail of 40 life-size painted rhinos dotted around Exeter and the English Riviera. 

    Thousands of people spent the summer searching out the artworks and now 39 of the rhinos have been auctioned to raise money for rhino conservation.

    Highlight was Hulk-O-Rhino, painted by Jenny Leonard and sponsored by Inter-Line Building Supplies which sold for £13,500 – 10 times the price of some of the other rhinos.

    The toilet block, was originally a former fish cellar and net store back in 1771.

    Charlotte Thomson and fiancée Joey Auger bought it in April last year to create a house with stunning views over St Austell Bay.

    Works of art by Bob Dylan were destroyed in the raging fire in Exeter city centre last Friday. 

    The owners of Castle Fine Art Gallery on Cathedral Green say an exhibition of his work was due to start today.

    The fire started in the building where the gallery is based, before spreading to surrounding buildings including the Royal Clarence Hotel. 

    Fifteen hand-signed Dylan prints were lost in the fire, along with works from other artists.
