    It'll continue generally cloudy, with low cloud covering high ground at times. There will also be some occasional light rain or drizzle that will become more persistent from the north during the afternoon. 

    However, there will be some bright or sunny periods for areas east of the moors for a time. Maximum temperature: 15C (59F).

    Overnight, it will remain cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, which will start to clear from the north towards the end of the night. Extensive low cloud will continue to cover the hills and it will be mild with moderate or fresh southwesterly winds occasionally strong around the coast, veering to the west later. Minimum temperature: 11C (52F).

    Cornwall Councillor Andrew Mitchell says he had "absolutely no intention to deliberately not pay" his council tax. 

    He accepts responsibility for the mistake that he says happened because he believed he was exempt due to personal circumstances.

    He says "I stick my hands up. I genuinely at that time did not think I owed that money."

    Councillor Mitchell has now set up a direct debit for future payments.

    She last made contact with friends and family at about 09:00. Officers are conducting local searches.

    The charity said families struggling to pay rent or maintain repayments on their properties had caused a surge in demand, resulting in 43,000 calls.

    The leader of the independent group of Cornwall councillors on the unitary authority has admitted he received a court summons for non-payment of council tax.

    Andrew Mitchell told BBC Radio Cornwall that he was disputing his bill when he was summoned and there was no intention not to pay.

    His admission comes after a Freedom of Information request by Private Eye magazine revealed a Cornwall councillor was summonsed to court for owing just over £590 unpaid council tax.

    Work is well under way in preparation for the City of Lights Festival in Truro later this month - an event which was nearly cancelled because of budget constraints. 

    About 30,000 people are expected to watch the parade on 23 November, and schoolchildren in the city are hard at work making some of the lanterns.

    A teenage girl has fought off a sex attacker armed with a knife during an assault in north Devon, police say, external.  

    Officers said the 14-year-old was attacked at a bus stop in Westleigh, on the B3233 route between Barnstaple and Bideford, between 07:30-08:30 on Monday. She was approached by the unknown man who was carrying a map and asked for directions, officers said.

    The girl was unharmed but left shaken by the experience, police said. 

    The suspect fled along the Tarka Trail, heading towards Bideford. he was described as in his early 30s, about 6ft tall, broad shoulders, of slim build and clean shaven. He was wearing dark clothing.

    Exeter's former England forward Tom Johnson says it has been difficult for him to watch from the sidelines after losing his place in the team.

    The 34-year-old, who is in his 10th season at Sandy Park, has not played in the Premiership since New Year's Day.

    He has featured in the last two Anglo-Welsh Cup matches, captaining the side in Sunday's win over Cardiff Blues.

    "It is tough, but it's part and parcel of the job," Johnson, who won eight caps for England, told BBC Sport.

    Two drivers have been treated for injuries after a lorry and double-decker bus collided near St Austell.

    The men were treated at the scene after the collision in Fernleigh Terrace in Nanpean at about 09:25, which has left the road blocked. One suffered leg injuries, police said.

    There were no passengers on the bus. Highways officials are at the scene.

    Thefts of pay and display machines from car parks across Cornwall have "inevitably caused some disruption to parking services", Cornwall Council says.

    Devon and Cornwall Police is investigating 19 such incidents across both counties since the summer.

    The authority said that "as well as leading to a loss of income, it also means the council has to pay around £4,500 to replace each machine". It added that such costs had "to be met by council taxpayers".

    Anyone who has information or noticed anything suspicious in car parks - "especially outside of normal operational hours" - has been asked to contact police.

    Torbay's MP says he can't accept proposals to cut all but one of CrossCountry trains' direct services from South Devon to the North of England.

    Under the new plans proposed in its future timetable consultation, external, the only remaining service would be the 07:00 train from Paignton to Manchester Piccadilly. 

    Conservative MP Kevin Foster said the proposal was hidden away in part of a 50-page consultation document.

    CrossCountry said the consultation put forward more trains at Exeter, which would see an overall increase in long distance journey opportunities between Torbay, the Midlands and the North.
