A Cornwall Councillor who admitted two counts of benefits fraud is not to stand at the next elections because of the pressure she has been under, she says.
Hanna Toms didn't tell the authority about a rise in income between 2008 and 2014, affecting her benefits calculations. Truro magistrates sentenced her to 40 hours of unpaid community work for the offences.
The 40-year-old Falmouth Penwerris councillor, who was suspended from the Labour Party after being charged, said she admitted her "genuine mistake" two years ago and would not resign, but was also not standing again next May after her current term ended. The money has since been repaid using a bank loan.
The authority said the case was "a matter for the Department for Work and Pensions and the councillor concerned".

Motorists in mid-Cornwall face detours to other fuel stops and disruption to their journeys after a busy petrol station suddenly closed at the end of last month.
The pumps at the Gulf service area at St Kew Highway ran dry without warning and there is no prospect of the site re-opening soon, it is understood.
Other local shops said they had seen a decline in passing trade since the closure.

The government's cohesion tsar says tolerance should be taught in Cornwall's schools even though there isn't much ethnic diversity in the county.

Marine experts say the rare sighting of a white porpoise off north Cornwall will help them learn more about the creatures.

Dr Peter Evans, from the Sea Watch Foundation, said it was believed to be only the sixth documented harbour porpoise with all-white colouration ever seen in UK waters since the early 20th Century. He said: "It's quite a rare event."

A glider pilot has died in a crash on Dartmoor, a gliding club has said.
Matt Wright, described as an "highly experienced pilot" by the Devon & Somerset Gliding Club, died in the crash at about 13:00 on Sunday.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch said its inspectors had begun an investigation.
Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp wrote to a Cornish lawn bowls club after a member got in contact with him as a result of seeing a picture of the Premier League boss on the internet playing bowls.
Jurgen Klopp has written to Grampound Bowling Club, congratulating them on their 90th anniversary. The letter also thanked bowling club chairman Norman Way (pictured) for his "continued support" of the football club.

An inquest in Exeter has heard how builders carried out the removal of asbestos at a school while teachers and children were still in the classroom.
The inquest into the death of retired teacher Susan Stephens, from Crediton - who died earlier this year of mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the lung - heard how she thought it was odd that the work hadn't been done outside school hours.
The coroner recorded a conclusion of death by industrial disease.

A traveller who was evicted from a car park in Cornwall last month has been given extra time to remove her property.
Sally Bowers, who set up home in the car park in Coverack about 11 years ago, was given until today to remove a number of vehicles, caravans and a mobile home.
St Keverne Parish Council, which owns the car park, said it had given Miss Bowers another two weeks to clear the site.
