    The whole of south Devon could be governed by a single elected mayor if plans being developed by councils in the region come to fruition, the BBC has learnt.

    Exeter City Council and the two unitary authorities in Plymouth and Torbay are leading the initiative which would see a new combined authority stretching from Exeter to Plymouth.

    It would also bring Labour and Conservative-controlled councils into a perhaps unlikely partnership.

    Parents of a girl from Exeter have released a video of their daughter's epileptic symptoms to help other children get diagnosed more quickly.

    The video of Grace Hall shows the tiny convulsions she endured when she was a baby. 

    Her consultant has just led a study which has found that combining hormones with anti-epilepsy medication is far more effective at stopping infantile spasms than conventional treatments.

    Nearly 3,000 children in the south west were treated in hospital last year after self-harming.

    The figures, out today, are from the NSPCC which says the numbers have gone up nearly a third on the year before.

    The charity says self-harm can take several forms including cutting, burning and overdosing.
