One person has been arrested in Exeter after an alleged assault, which police described as a domestic-related stabbing.

A major police operation involving dogs and a helicopter was launched after an incident in Leighton Terrace last night. Officers cordoned off an area behind the prison as they looked for a weapon.

The search included the city's university grounds but officers said no students or other members of the public were at risk.
