    A coach carrying schoolchildren from St Ives School has crashed on the A30 near Penzance.

    The coach is thought to have veered off the road and on to the verge.

    The Williams Travel coach was heading to a swimming gala in Penzance.

    It is not yet clear if anybody has been injured.

    A homeless man was beaten unconscious in the street in the early hours of New Year's Day in Newquay.

    Police say they would like to speak with the men pictured below in CCTV images in connection with the attack in St George's Road at around 4.30am.

    Three suspects have been arrested and released on bail until 30 March.

    The mayor of Truro says he is surprised the city is in the running to become a European Capital of Culture.

    Today Cornwall Councillors will vote on whether to spend more than half a million pounds, external on the bidding process for the 2023 spot.

    The former boss of the South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has gone on trial for fraud at Exeter Crown Court. 

    Paula Vasco-Knight, 53, denies two counts totalling £20,000 . 

    Her husband Stephen Vasco-Knight, 46, denies one count of fraud. 

    Habib Naqvi, 39, faces two charges of encouraging or assisting an offence.

    Plymouth Argyle Football Club (PAFC) has confirmed David Goodwillie has left the club by mutual agreement.

    In a statement, external posted on the club's website, it said: "Mr Goodwillie has asked the club to terminate his contract of employment in order that he can focus his time on a potential appeal of the civil judgement made against him. 

    PAFC has agreed to his request. PAFC will make no further comment on this matter."

    Earlier in January, Goodwillie was one of two footballers ruled to be rapists and ordered to pay £100,000 damages despite never facing a criminal trial.

    There could be help for cash strapped councils to keep public toilets open across Cornwall.

    A bill going through parliament would give local authorities the right to stop charging business rates for local facilities.

    Town and parish councils have increasingly taken control of running public loos as Cornwall Council tries to save money. 

    But some are struggling to make it economically viable.

    The Cornwall councillor responsible for culture says a bid to make Truro European Capital of Culture in 2023 would benefit the entire county.

    Julian German says the city will be a hub, but a successful bid will bring extra money to all of Cornwall.  

    Councillors will vote later on whether to spend more than £500,000 on the application. 

    The last UK city to win the award was Liverpool in 2008

    Police say they cannot be certain that a fire which destroyed a pub in Falmouth yesterday was caused by arson. 

    They say a scenes of crime officer and fire investigator could not find enough evidence to prove the fire at the Four Winds Inn was deliberate. They added accidental and electrical causes could not be ruled out.

    Vandals have smashed windows on historic trains, stolen radios and damaged buildings in a break-in at the South Devon Railway. 

    The incident happened at the attraction at Buckfastleigh on Friday. 

    It's the second time in a year that the charity-run railway has been targeted by thieves.

    As well as causing £5,000 worth of damage, the station manager's personal bar of chocolate was also taken, charity bosses said.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after armed police were called to a property in Redruth.

    Officers attended the property at Four Lanes at 20:15 following reports of a domestic assault.

    A man was reported to have had a knife, officers said. 

    Police said they negotiated with a man who voluntarily left the property about 22:00 and was arrested. He remains in custody in Camborne.
