    A large housing development has been approved just outside Exeter. 

    Planning permission has been granted for 1,300 new homes between Alphington and Exminster, but the final number is expected to be 2,500. 

    The developers and Teignbridge District Council say it's great news for the area.

    But some local residents claim the council has not listened.

    An inquest in London is due to hear evidence today into the death a man from Cornwall who died in a terror attack in Tunisia.

    Stephen Mellor from Bodmin, was one of 30 Britons killed when a gunman opened fire on a beach resort north of Sousse in 2015.

    On Tuesday, the inquest heard a British holidaymaker "played dead" next to her husband's body while the gunman killed the 38 people at the Tunisian beach resort.

    • In Plymouth on the A38 Parkway heading from Manadon towards Forder Valley one lane is blocked due to an incident. Traffic is slow moving with queues back to the Saltash Tunnel
    • Just after the toll booths on the Plymouth side of the the bridge one lane is blocked due to another incident
    • On Tavistock Road there's very heavy traffic in both directions due to the Parkway incident
    • Traffic is slow moving Devon-bound on the Tamar Bridge and there's a 10 minute wait with three ferries running at Torpoint

    Poultry owners are being warned they could face jail sentences if they let their birds go outside. 

    The government has made the warning following strict instructions to keep free range birds indoors in a bid to prevent the spread of avian flu.

    Authorities are asking the public to inform Trading Standards where regulations are being flouted and birds are being allowed to roam free.

    Cornwall Council's cabinet members will vote later whether to spend £536,000 to apply for the 2023 title. 

    The last UK city to win the award was Liverpool in 2008. 

    This year Paphos in Cyprus and the Danish city of Aarhus will both be capitals of culture. 

    The title could be worth £109m to the local economy and bring almost 1m extra visitors to Cornwall, says a council report.

    An inquest at the Royal Courts of Justice in London is due to hear evidence today into the death of Stephen Mellor from Cornwall, who was one of 30 Britons killed when a gunman opened fire on a beach in Tunisia.

    The engineer from Bodmin died as he shielded his wife Cheryl, who was hit in the forearm and leg. 

    The full inquest into the deaths is expected to last between six and eight weeks.
