    "In hindsight you can see there are perhaps signs of danger but you get so many emails."

    That's the Tiverton town clerk who wiped records going back to 2015 after accidentally opening  an email virus.

    "These things happen and I didn't do it on purpose," said John Vanderwolfe.

    "It's a bit like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted but we are now looking at having better security measures.

    "You keep thinking if only I had not pressed that button.

    "I am now afraid to open anything."

    It's been "called in" by the council's monitoring officer because of "inadequate consultation" and "inadequate evidence on which to base a decision".

    The Scrutiny Management Committee is expected to debate the matter on 14 February. We're feeling the love already.

    Exmoor National Park Authority says careless local landowners must share some of the blame by allowing felled trees to get into the river.

    Three people have been arrested after a "shocking" robbery in which a shop worker was injured with a spray by balaclava-clad attackers.

    The victim was carrying the weekend takings to be banked in The Strand, Dawlish, when he was sprayed in the face and the cash stolen by two men on 30 January.

    The victim was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he has undergone treatment on his seriously damaged eyes which were burnt by the liquid sprayed at him.

    A 34-year-old woman from Sunderland, a 28-year-old man from Sunderland, and a 36-year-old man from Dawlish are in police custody.

    There's been fierce criticism of the Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez after she revealed her plans before they were approved by the panel. 

    She wants to cut the number of PSCOs by 200 and recruit 100 new police constables.

    Plans by the new owner of Bodmin Gaol to use a playing field at the entrance to the Camel Trail for car parking have angered people living nearby.

    The redevolopment of the site as a hotel and visitor attraction would require extra parking.

    One part of the field is owned by Bodmin Town Council, and another by Cornwall Council.

    Gaol manager Chris Wilkes said if developers were successful in their bid to buy the land, they would work with landscape architects to improve it.

    This weekend is the two-year anniversary of Storm Imogen which battered many parts of the South West, including Porthleven in Cornwall.

    In February 2015 huge waves crashed through the inner harbour.

    Now new life is being created from the storm damage and the wood has been turned into unique works of art.

    They'll be auctioned off to raise money for the charity The Fishermen's Mission.
