The RSPCA has asked people to dispose of their litter "with care" after a seagull was found in Bodmin with a drinks can stuck on its beak.
Image source, RSPCAThe young gull was "unable to eat or use it's beak properly", the charity said.
They added that there is usually a spike in these types of incidents in the summer months.
On average the RSPCA says it receives around 14 calls a day concerning animals affected by litter.

A competition to name two Cornwall-bound beavers has been launched.
The Cornwall Beaver project plans to release two of the animals upstream of Ladock as a way of tackling flooding.
The Cornwall Wildlife Trust needs to raise £15,000 in the next six weeks to make the project happen.

"I’m expecting to see a lot more frogs, newts, toads and even birds and bats over the coming years.
"I’d like to thank anyone in advance who can make a donation to this project; it really is one of Cornwall’s most exciting wildlife stories.”

A woman out paddleboarding at Sennen in west Cornwall got into difficulty when she was separated from her board and pushed out to sea by offshore winds.
RNLI lifeguards saw the woman drifting out to sea and managed to reach her to bring her back to shore.
Olly Shilston from the RNLi said they were seeing many more paddleboarders in the water and urged them to follow basic safety precautions such as using a leash.

A vets surgery in Cornwall has been looking after a bird that was found sitting in the road.
Initially the staff at Rosemullion Veterinary Practice in Falmouth, including Naomi Blackbourn (pictured), decided that Russell Crow would be a suitable name.

And so, with the General Election coming up, they went with the name Jeremy Corvin.
Jeremy has been taken to a new home at the Mousehole Bird Hospital this afternoon.

Cornwall's Trading Standards is working with other organisations to try to reach out to people who might have fallen victim to rogue traders.
It's thought that about 7,000 residents in Cornwall fall victim to scammers and scam mail but only 7% report the crime.
At a conference representatives from Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Adult and Children Services and several charities who work with vulnerable people, are learning how to spot the signs of a potential victim and helping them get support.
The cyber attack on the NHS has not affected hospitals in the south west it appears.
The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Torbay Hospital, North Devon Hospital and the Royal Cornwall Hospital have all told the BBC they are not experiencing any problems.
We have approached Derriford Hospital in Plymouth but have not yet had a response.
The attack has shut down telephone and IT systems at hospitals across the country.

A cat has been left on the Torpoint ferry travelling between Devon and Cornwall this morning.
The Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Facebook page, external said the black and white cat was found "hitching a lift".
They are appealing for anyone with any information about the cat to get in touch on 01752 812233.

The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro has said it has not been affected by a suspected cyber attack that has affected NHS services across England.
No flights have left Exeter, Newquay or Land's End for the Isles of Scilly today because of heavy fog and low lying cloud.

A Royal Marine sniper has been cleared of groping a student at a graduation ball after telling a jury his hands had gone nowhere near her private parts.
Thomas Telford, 23, was found not guilty of sexual assault by a jury at Exeter Crown Court.
He told the court he was 'photo-bombing' a picture which another male guest was taking of two women at the Exeter University Graduation Ball.

He said he may have touched the woman by accident as he tried to get into the picture but denied there was any sexual intent.

Reading have announced that former Plymouth Argyle loanee Craig Tanner will leave the club this summer.
The Championship side will release the forward at the end of his contract, meaning the Pilgrims could sign him on a free transfer.

A fire crew from Paignton was called out to rescue a woman who had become locked in her bedroom with her child.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the hinges on the door had broken and the woman couldn't get out at 00:30 last night.
The crew had to wait for the landlord to arrive with a key to the property, before they were able to release the mother and child, unharmed, from the first floor bedroom.
The incident happened on Blatchcombe Road.

Devon and Cornwall Police are significantly increasing the number of officers trained to use Tasers.
It's understood the number of officers using them will be increased to about 1,200 by September 2019.
A new twin-cartridge Taser will also be introduced into the force, which will enable the devices to be fired twice, if required.

League One and Two clubs have voted to retain invited under-21 teams in the Checkatrade Trophy for two more seasons, along with a increase in prize money and changes to selection rules.
Two-thirds of clubs lent their support to the 64-team format, though both Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City both voted to revert to the old 48-team knockout format.

Older women who live alone are the main target of scammers in the county, Cornwall Trading Standards says.
It is working with other organisations to try to reach out to people who might fall victim to rogue traders.
It's estimated about 7,000 residents in Cornwall fall victim to scammers and scam mail but only 7% report the crime.
Leanne Mclean, lead officer for doorstep crime with Cornwall Trading Standards, said: "The typical victim of these types of crime is an 81-year-old female living alone.
"We know that rogue traders look for warning signs that somebody is more vulnerable or perhaps suffering from a disability, like grab rails or unkempt gardens."
